  2. Ok thanks for the reply. I will make sure to stay under 300 this time. - i wonder if I tried to get cute and raise the temp at the end ... the last attempt was last summer and the details get fuzzy... thanks again Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  4. Planning to give the Pork Belly Sticky Buns (Steven Raichlen) another go this weekend. The last time I made them, they were very good, but I felt that I burned the sugar last time during the smoke. The rub has quite a bit of brown or turbinado sugar. Looking to avoid that slight burnt taste this time around. Any advice? Here is a photo, you can see they look almost black. Thanks in advance! Jerry Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Hi All - If you live in the Atlanta area, Pike Nursery is having a 20% off sale. I can't make any promises, but i bought my Classic there in 2015 and got 20% off ... They initially told me it didn't apply to grills until I pointed out the exclusion list didn't mention grills - so the manager honored it. Here is the pic of the email - worth a shot if anyone is in the market for a Joe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  8. I got this one: https://www.amazon.com/Char-Broil-Smoker-Roaster-Grill-Cover/dp/B0047O387W The diameter is perfect but it is a little tall so not perfect but does ok. KJ Classic, KJ Jr, Weber gasser, Weber Smokey Joe
  9. Had both the bottom and top vents wide open. Even had the dome open while the starters were burning. But I am due for a good cleaning and did have a fair amount of smaller pieces that could clog the lower plate... I always make sure the 5 upper air holes are completely clear. I'll give her a good cleaning and see if that helps. Thanks for all the comments. KJ Classic, KJ Jr, Weber gasser, Weber Smokey Joe
  10. Just curious if anyone has had trouble lighting up the grill after a period of high humidity? It's probably been 6+ weeks since I cooked on the KJ (yeah that's another problem ) so I had some old lump sitting in there. I stirred the old lump around and added some new lump that had been sitting in the Kingsford Kaddy on the deck. Started up with 2 starters and finally now getting up to 450 after about 2 hours (and even added a 3rd starter...) Anyway, all I can think of is maybe the humid Atlanta weather is kicking in now and the old lump had to have some moisture content boiled off first? Thanks J KJ Classic, KJ Jr, Weber gasser, Weber Smokey Joe
