  4. Just cooked my first chicken thighs on the Vision Kamado and damn it was good!!!!!!! Check out the juices that came out on the plate and sink/counter. I hit it with some Bear Claw butt rub, cooked at 265 till done. Then sauced with sweet baby rays honey and bone suckin sauce. It was as good as some of the chicken I have judged in comps. Thanks for lookin Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I have had my Vision B for a couple of months now. Very happy with its results. My best advice is to remember to heat soak at your desired temp for at least 30 mins to an hour. Go full vents until about 75 degrees from target then start with half mark on top and bottom vents and work your way up. For smoking you will need a heat deflector. The Vision brand is about $50. But you can use one of these and a pizza pan or stone. A better option for the stone is a cast iron griddle like this one from Academy http://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/outdoor-gourmet-14-preseasoned-round-griddle#repChildCatid=27890 You will need to use a hacksaw to trim the handles down or have it sit on the fire bowl and then your grate on top of that.
  6. That grill is so clean. lol Welcome to the forum. You will have it seasoned in no time

  10. When judging BBQ Burnt Ends are my absolute favorite. It sucks that Brisket is the last category to judge and I am always to full to finish the good entries. From the looks of the ends, I bet the flat was amazing
  11. Looking good! I find that no matter how many alarms, using a guru, etc I still can't sleep on an overnight cook. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. It was 4H crunch time so most of their weekend was spent getting caught up on their projects. I do have a daughter who looks to cook with me, the son just loves the food and could care less about cooking it

  14. If everyone is like me they have those go to meals that are cheap, easy and you more than likely have all the ingredients. The kamodo can really step these meals up to the next level. It was my weekend with the kids, so Friday I decided to cook one of their fav go to meals. Spaghetti and garlic bread!!! Angel Hair pasta for the base of the first layer. Hunts pasta sauce and ground beef next. Cooked the meat with minced garlic and SPG. Next layer, good ole American cheese. Another layer of noodles and meat sauce then topped with shredded cheese, Parmesan cheese and dash of oregano. All we had for shredded cheese was velvetta brand. It didn't melt as well as a colbyjack or cheddar would have. Peekaboo!!!! I forgot to mention my setup for this cook. Usual full bowl of charcoal lit in two spots with firestarters. I raised the second rack of my Vision with my heat defector holder. Then placed my CI plate on top of that. Got her up to 375, only heat soaked for 30 mins. This could have contributed to the cheese not melting completely. I cooked it for roughly 45 minutes. Gonna try this setup for pizzas next time. Finished product. See the darn cheese didn't melt Can't have speg without garlic bread. Turned out to be the best baked speg I have made so far. The middle layer of cheese was nice and melted. I am reminded of how amazing Kamado's are everytime I cook on mine. Thanks to all I have learned from KG forum!!!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  16. Thanks for the shoutout shuley, wish i could have remembered who i got it from. It amazes me how well everything turns out on a Kamado, no matter the brand of cooker, experience level of cook, etc.
