  1. What is 1t of tomato paste? A tin? How big?
  2. Awesome! I was just looking for a "normal" chili recipe i could try over the top chili with.
  3. I saw some wild sockeye salmon in costco today....was going to pick some up but for some reason I didn't. Saw some other salmon there too and easy wondering what people prefer as in which species. Dont know too much about salmon.
  4. I know eh?! I totally hate it when there's traffic and my 10 minute drive turns into a 12 minute drive! [emoji23] I don't miss my commute to the big city at all! Did that for 13 years and that was enough. You could just pedal your bike the 8 miles, might be faster passing traffic on the shoulder of the road. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  5. I've been wanting to make some for a long time. Time to get my but in gear. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  6. I LOVE fish tacos. Got hooked on them in Mexico and ate them every day...at least once. My Big question is what do you do with the shells? Are the just fajita heated or something? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  7. Welcome to the club if in fact you actually have the trifecta?! No pics...not real. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  8. Which Joe size do you find best suited for pizzas? My guess I'd the Classic would accommodate most sized pizzas and burn less charcoal but not sure if there's any difference otherwise. Would there be any difference in pizza stone temps if you used the same setup in a Big Joe but used a classic sized pizza stone? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  9. So my wife got me a KJ dutch oven for Father's Day but she said her first choice was a pizza stone (which wasn't in stock) or a half moon griddle. She saw ridges on the griddle and she didn't know the other side was flat so she settled on a dutch oven. Don't get me wrong, I love the thought and love my cast iron but I haven't really cooked any dutch oven food. Once my wife realized the griddle was flat on one side she said she would have gotten that. So the question is should I return the Dutch oven for the griddle or keep the Dutch oven? Which do you use more and for what? I don't want to keep it and not use it. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  10. Did you dad work for VW? Looks familiar from my VW (Toronto) days....those were good days. My wife and I have long talked about getting an old beetle(her choice) or a karmahn ghia (my choice). Maybe one day. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  11. I was going to ask that. I have cast iron pans but to be honest I only like frying stuff that doesn't make a mess for harder cleaning. I like to be able to just wipe and go. I'll have to try some enamel ones. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  12. Let the fun begin! Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  13. Looks good. I'm going to throw this out there. I think tables built for acorns should be made of oak because that where the oak comes from! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] Sorry for the uncle joke. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  14. They look great! I've over cooked my last couple of batches of chicken...think I try to do to many things at one time. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  15. Busy day at the Joes with a couple of firsts. Did some pork belly burnt ends and beef ribs for the first time! They both were amazing! Also did up some turds, thick cut pea meal bacon and a hobo pack of potatoes and onions. To top it all off did a couple meatloaves in the oven (looks like I need another kamado)! 16. I fully understand the summit is no ordinary kettle. The summit was not available when I got my kamados. I haven't even seen a summit in person yet. My point was at the beginning BBM said a kettle is good for a cheaper alternative and it is. However if you like bbqing all year in the great white north you'd appreciate a kamado (or any other insulated type cooker). I still have a kettle(performer) used it this weekend in fact. 17. I liked you video BBM. I like how you give a fair enough amount of weight to the pros and cons of each. Having cone from Weber kettles into ceramic kamados I would like to add something. I got into ceramics because I like to bbq all year long and it gets cold, rainy and windy here in Canada. Now I know what some of you kettle heads will say that you can maintain temps in -30c in your kettle. I could too and did. But man I burnt a lot of charcoal and spent a LOT of fussing time doing it. I probably would have stayed with kettles if I were in warmer climate...I love how cheap they are and therefore didn't worry too much about modifying something on them. But, you just can't beat the temp holding power of a kamado. Keep up the good work BBM! Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  18. What temp do you use your cast iron at? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  19. So I know we are supposed to check and tighten bands on our Joes periodically. Should it be done while hot or cold? How tight should they be? Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  20. Thinking I might want to build a table for my Joe's. Any good trifecta tables, plans of table or sketches of ideas out there? Not real sure what the best layout is. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  21. I think for 2 people 90% of the time you made the right choice. I have all three as well and a Big Joe would have been way over kill for two people. I personally do not use extender racks because I also have all three sizes. If you were cooking 2 or 3 prockchops on a Big Joe you bought yesterday you'd feel the same way and go out and but a jr like so many other people do. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  22. Those are Canadian prices. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  23. I hear ya. I know I really scored getting my Big Joe on clearance for $1499 Canadian. I didn't hesitate at all getting it. Ya the new model would have been nice but that's a lot more! Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  24. Ya. I'm afraid people on the fence might opt for a bge now as they will be cheaper. I love my Big Joe but I'm pretty sure I would not be getting one at that price. I thought it was only supposed to be a $300 increase? I know that was American but that doesn't equate to the $800 increase here from the regular price. Oh well I got my Big Joe for les then this Classic and I love it. I just hope this doesn't hurt KJ. Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
  25. Man am I ever glad I bought my Big Joe when I did and got one of the last 2016 models on clearance. I save $1300! Yes the new hinge, gasket yada yada would've been nice but fact is I would not be getting a Bid Joe any time soon at this new price. No regrets Sent from my SM-G900W8 using Tapatalk
