Been shopping around and researching for a long time and was at Cabelas and ALMOST dropped the $1300 on a Kamado Joe. Nothing against it but I knew there was no way I could justify the purchase to my wife.

So I hopped down the road to Home Depot and grabbed the Vision Kamado. So far I'm thoroughly impressed with the build quality.

Haven't had a chance to try it due to rain but I'm really excited to get this going.

Not sure what I'm going to cook first but I'm looking forward to it.

Just FYI...I liked the D&C setup too. I got a knockoff by Aura Outdoors for my Vision Pro S that was $99 for the Entire setup...base rack, two diffuser halves, two half racks and the rack extender. As near as I can tell, it is EXACTLY like the D&C.

Do you have a link to this setup?  I like the price point.

  3. ^^^^ First you probably should have addressed your concerns through a PM to a Site Administrator or the Owner who is who instituted the ban. But here is your request.

It's pretty much covered here in the first two paragraphs:

Thanks for the dogpile. I access this website through Tapatalk which does not show the terms of service at the top of every forum. Thank you for the link.

  4. Can I get a link to the most current terms of service for this website? As a third party, I don't understand what was posted by the OP that required a ban. I see a consumer unstaisfied with service--he attempted to get replacement through the customer service avenue, and is unsatisfied with the results. He posted his displeasure with his third top vent, and he gets the ban?

  5. All hardware should be metric since it was built in China. That KJ has the new segmented firebox, so I assume it has the new "million dollar" hinge--you should not have problems with it yet. What are you trying to adjust with it?

  6. No one has ever posted that their problems were not resolved. KJ is dedicated to standing behind their products. The fact that they pay the shipping also puts them a step above most other companies.

I don't fault them for fixing the issues, but it seems KJ specifically has a lot more issues than other brands. Cracked fire bowls (old style), cracked bases, non fitting accessories (big joetisserre). It seems KJ is always being discussed in regards to warranty work. Which could help explain the large price increase for the 2017 models--owners are paying for what appears to be an abnormally high warranty rate. KJ is not absorbing these warranty repairs.

I don't see near the warranty issues with other brands--Vision, BGE, Primo, Pit Boss--other than easy fix items, like gasket.
  7. I bought the brand and size smoke pot he recommend then drilled the number of holes he told me to, then after I ran into trouble with doing it his way, I read on another of his posts that he had drilled too many in his and he was going to run fewer holes in future.
I also have a technical background..I am a Master Auto Tech with advanced performance and electronic fuel injection certifications plus I owned and operated an auto repair shop for 30 years so tinkering with gear is in my blood.
My hobby, while I was still wrenching was building 17,000 RPM racing engines.
Won multiple regional, state, several international (Mexican Supersport and FIM Latin American Superbike championships) and one American national amatuer supersport championship.
Improving my gear and toys won't ever stop.

Welding cast iron sucks. Run non galvanized nuts and bolts through your big 3/8 holes to seal, and re-drill smaller 1/8 holes.
  8. Bought this from Amazon for my Vision Classic B and can confirm today it fits like a champ, out of the box. Fit, finish, and quality are top notch at the price point. No air gap, and no adjustments to lid--drop it in and go.

Bought mine at $95.99 last week and looks like the Amazon bots have upped it a few bucks since then--but still a bargain. Long cord for the motor and square stainless shaft so it won't unscrew like the cheap universal rotisserie kits. I refuse to pay Joetisserie retail for Chinese imported products.

Looking forward to trying it out!

  9. Why does this forum get so ruffled when others post their opinions? That's the great thing about the Internet and the various forums that go along with it. It's a place to state your opinion, not to attack another person for his opinion because your opinion differs.

There are just as many or more "my KJ firebowl cracked" or "my JOEtisserre does not fit my KJ" posts as Akron problems. No one company is perfect. This whole "Big 3" fanboy rhetoric gets old. The guy likes his Akron better than the "Big 3"--let him opine. No need to get so defensive. Go cook.

  10. I think you are chasing your tail adjusting the bands to make the JT fit, unless you plan on only using the JT all the time. It would get quite annoying to adjust the top bands every time you swap out. From what I read, the JT is designed as a drop in fit, and not an adjust to fit item.

  11. I eat at food trucks all the time, but I live in Austin and there is an awesome eclectic food truck industry here. I try a lot of of them and return to the ones that really stand out and offer something unique--not your regular run of the mill offerings. We here in Austin can be picky in our food truck selection.

Your burger looks good but the plain jane potato bun keeps it from top notch. Try a brioche or something exotic or unique that sets it off.

Nacho presentation is nice, but the canned nacho cheese sauce would keep me away. Master a queso recipe and stay away from the neon cheese sauce that screams county fair or high school football game fare.
