  1. After almost 6 years of heat service, my Auber is dying - inconsistent readings, temp fluctuations. Looking for a new controller for the Akorn, open to suggestions. Looking at the BBQ Guru products, any thoughts on those? Open for more make/model suggestions. Thanks!
  2. I am sold on it after one cook. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  3. The finished product. The Junior works like a champ. This could become my go-to. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  4. And we're off! (Actually about ready to take it off and rest while I jack up heat.) Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  5. And here's tonight's star attraction. Going to reverse- sear the hell out of this bad boy. Grill coming up to temp now. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  6. Success. Found a grilling basket for 7.99 at Bed Bath and Beyond, wrapped it in foil leaving outer edges uncovered. Fits like a champ. It'll do as a diffuser until I get smokin stone. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks. I'll end up buying the smokin stone from Chargriller, ill have to rig something up to work until then. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  8. Going to fire up a bone-in ribeye for first cook later today. Quick question for the junior owners, I think I missed it somewhere, is there an existing replacement grill out there to use to set up diffuser, similar to the regular Akorn? Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
  9. One of these might have fallen into my cart when I went to Lowes last night to pick up chlorine. It might be in the back of the truck waiting for the right moment to unload. Might.
  10. Been an owner of the original for almost 5 years, think I'm getting ready to pull the trigger myself on a Junior from Lowes. We bought season tix for college ball this year, seems perfect for tailgates. Been reading quite a few threads, almost convinced myself. The hard part will be 'splainin' to the wife... "What do you need another grill for?"
  11. Been a while since I've been here, almost 2 1/2 years, so figured I'd reintroduce myself. Here in FLA, bought an Akorn almost 5 years based on info from this forum. Still cooking away like a champ, showing some age, but it's hanging in. Life has a way of getting in the way of things, but going to try and be more active. Cheers to all! Edited it to say I actually bought the cooker 5 years ago. Time flies, I suppose.
