Polar Bear got a reaction from TKOBBQ in You're all a bad influence on me
So, after watching a ton of videos on You Tube I decided to dip my toe back into the Kamado-verse (after a 5 year absence) and went to my local BBQ shop and put a deposit down on a new Kamado Joe II Classic (theyre not expected to be available in Australia until June/July/August)
Then I find this place and after reading a few threads I decide that maybe I should go the whole hog and get the Big Joe instead (If I'm spending $1700, I may as well spend $2200, right?) so I call my BBQ shop and move my deposit over to a Big Joe instead.
Now, after reading the threads on Kamado Tables and seeing large grills set up with Joe JNRs and Mini Max' I'm starting to think that a Joe JNR would give me SO much more versatility if used in conjunction with my Big Joe (plus I could ditch my worn out Webber Q and use the Joe JNR as my hunting/camping BBQ)
I'll hold off on the Joe JNR until I get a few cooks on the new Big Joe under my belt, but the image of a Kamado Table with a BJ and a JJ mounted in it is a hard one to shake

Its a sickness, I tells ya!

An Alternative could be to wait a little longer and purchase the features you like from the new BJ and fit them to your current BJ
From what I've seen, the new hinge, gasket, fire box and top vent should all fit older model Joes

Might be easier than selling your current joe and then buying a new one

    Just a thought

    Love it
The multi piece fire box is the only reason I started looking at Kamados again and the air lift hinge is the only reason my missus would let me start looking at Kamados again

Why not just removed the top vent entirely and soak in HOT soapy water when it binds up?

Guy posts a big rant about how so many people in this world have turned into sensitive snowflakes only to rage quit when someone asks him not to post political discussions on a BBQ forum

Excellent.  Since the original poster of this thread is abandoning the thread and the site in general, we can close this discussion without offending anyone.

I wish politics was not discussed on this forum at all.

I have been given the opportunity to be a beta tester for the Flame Boss app that will be coming out sometime in the near future.  I have run two sessions with it on the ugly drum smoker so far and they have been mostly successful.  There have been a few minor glitches but the app looks like it's gonna be a winner when it's ready for prime time!

What would it cost to ship a KK down under or is there a local distributer?

Started the day at my local dawn service and then stuck around the parade through main street
The end of the day was spent at my local RSL where I proceeded to loose close to $100 playing two up
    A great day

I've spent quite a bit of time tinkering with older models
Built this 1964 Holden (Australian branch of Chevy) when I was in my late teens. Had to park it up recently as life was getting in the way of me enjoying it as often as I would've liked. Hoping to get it back on the road later this year

After we finished the wagon, my old man and I screwed this 1965 Ford Falcon together for him. His is the big dollar car. Nitrous Stroker motor, full lead line body work and bare metal respray, all the flash bits.

Having spent a fair bit of time behind the wheel of both, its always a toss up which one I like more
The Ford is and Iron Fist in a Velvet Glove but the Wagon Oozes cool
