Initial reviews of this grill are not positive (boardering on dangerous)

@Baby Back Maniac did a really great video of his first cook that didnt end well
He just posted an update on his channel that seems to highlight a couple of major design flaws
Worth checking it out before making a purchase

Its a shame as this looked like a good cooker but it clearly has issues that need to be addressed

No, I spent 16 weeks digging through the analytics of this and many other forums, cross referencing post topics with the number of negative reviews and Up/Down votes
I then complied the data into a spread sheet and created a few pie charts (I love pie charts) to show the difference between what the community considered to be reasonable warranty issues and unreasonable issues
After reviewing the data I passed it on to my colleagues at the University of useless information found on BBQ Forums (The Kamado Division) to be peer reviewed to ensure I hadn’t missed something
It was harrowing work but I think it was well worth the time it took to get a better understanding of how realistic people’s expectations are when it comes to manufacturing defects on what is essentially 2 flower pots joined together with a fancy hinge

    Hope that clears it up

I hoenstly feel like 20% of new joiners to this forum do so only to vent about thier less than ideal customer service stories
I guess shouting into a literall void is too difficult for them, so they do it here instead

I think 98% of people who have warrenty issues walk away quite satisfied
1% often have higher expectations of customer service than thier situation warrents (eg. my base has a chip in it, i want a whole new grill!!!)
The last 1% actually get the run around. Whether its because thier requests falls through the cracks or they're just unlucky and the item they require is on back order, it seems more like bad luck than any actual issue with how KJs CS team opperate

IMO, this combines the worst features of a Kamado and Pellet grill
It looks cool but i dont think it will work as well as a conventional Pellet Grill or Kamado would

Maybe i'm a little more forgiving than most but I've had a warrenty claim in with KJ for a Big Joetissery since Dec and a claim in for a busted wheel since early Nov
Niether product is stopping me from using the grill itself, so I'm in no real hurry to get it sorted
Having issues with both products is not ideal, but i bought the grill to cook on and provided it can do that, I'm not really loosing sleep over somthing so small. It'll get sorted eventually

    Brisket Pie

When i want to do brisket practise (and dont want to invite a bunch of people round to help me eat it) I take a bit for dinner for the Missus and i and turn the rest into meat pies for lunches
Its my 2nd fav way to eat brisket

    I'm not sold on this
I think its just innovation for innovations sake
There is more to Smoke Flavor and Penetration than just deflector design, so while i'm sure this will work just fine, I dont see the need to upgrade from the standard halfmoon set up

Polar Bear got a reaction from Beermachine in Stainless steel or non stick cookware?
As already mentioned, dont buy a set unless it has one of everything you know you're gonna need
Almost every set i've purchased comes with at least one pot that just sits in the cupboard and never gets used.
Buying individual pots as you need them sometimes works out a little more expensive, but at least you have the freedom to buy exactly what you want and need when you need them

As for non stick vs stainless:
The fact you've already mentioned, the fact you have a non stick set that is wearing out and making you want to "buy somthing good" should tell you all you need to know about Non Stick anything
I'd go with a mixture of the best stainless steel posts you can afford and either stainless or cast iron pans in the sizes you use the most

@pesto3 had his catch fire too
I think it was due to grease collecting in the ash pan during a low temp cook and then catching alight when he tried to up the temp, though

No High Fructose Corn Syrup here either
Even our Coca Cola is different to yours (made with Cane Sugar rather than HFCS)

Chicken Salt isnt really a seasoning here, its more of a Religion...

    May i Suggest checking out:
Greenwoods BBQ: Tree Bark (Chicken and Lamb)
BBQ Mafia: Mafia Steakout (Charcoal Based Beef Rub)
Feedlot BBQ: Cattle Call (Porchini Mushroom All Purpose Rub)

Theyre my top 3 Aussie Made Rubs

Well, cause Kamado Joe own the Patent on it and use it as an exclusive selling point to encourage potential customers to choose thier grill over others, like most innovations

Polar Bear got a reaction from Scott Roberts in Pro Joe/Big Joe III What's the Difference?
Having not seen them side by side, i cant say for sure but they look pretty similar
Both have the same cooking area and similar weights listed on the KJ Website
The ProJoe does look to have a taller dome, but that could just be the pictures i've seen
The ProJoe also has a new hinge (Design No 610) but who knows that that means?

As the Pro Joe is meant to be for Commercial Applications its possible the additional costs include extention of the KJ warrenty to a commercial setting (or at the very least, a limited commerical warrenty)
I imagine a BJ3 used in a commercial enviroment is not covered by the KJ lifetime warrenty where the Pro Joe should be

That having been said, there is a lot of Stainless Steel in the ProJoe so that could be the reason for the price increase all by itself
