Polar Bear got a reaction from Yeowie in Will the slo roller fit in the Classic Joe II
It should fit, but from what i've seen, the Classic 3 grill grates sit higher than the Classic 2 so you may not have much clearance between the SloRoller and grill grates if you want to run a drip/water pan

The SloRoller isnt availble as a spare part from KJ currently, so no one really knows
Easiest way to find out would be to go to your Local BBQG and swap it between the 2 (most should still have the Series 2 in stock as well as the Series 3) if you're super curious

I've heard good reports about it but i'll be waiting to see the RRP in Australia before deciding if I need one for my BJ2

Polar Bear got a reaction from Hedonist in Brisket fail. What did I do wrong?
Brisket and "Short on time" dont usually work well together, especially if youre new to it
I would advise against cooking above 275f if you're still new to brisket as i've found that while "hot and fast" brisket cooking can yeld very good results, it requires a little more care than a traditional low and slow cook would
With brisket costing between $14 and $20/kg, the less you ruin, the better

I'd first figure out how to cook a decent brisket before you try to figure out how to cook one quickly

If you cant budget 8-12 hours for a cook (from start to finish) then I'd advise looking at another cut of meat (Beef Ribs would be a good option)

Probably, but i wouldnt bet money on it
Heres a couple of issues with your approach, you're spending too much thought on "time and temp"
Set your vents, stablise your temp and cook it til its done

Cook at 250f-275f (just get it close, doesnt have to be spot on)
Make sure your temp is stable
Throw it on as early as you can
Cook it til its probe tender, forget what your thermo says, if it probes like butter, its done
If it takes 5 hours, great
If it takes 10 hours, then thats how long it takes

Its not a cake, reading the "instructions on the packet" wont mean you get a perfect brisket
They take time, patience and practise

Polar Bear got a reaction from Mccaf in Kick Ash Basket or Kamado Joe Basket
If youre refering to the hooks on the basket, I think you'll find thats more a personal presence thing than an actual design flaw
I have a KABs in both my Kamados and theyre great, a friend of mine has the KJ basket in his BJ and he has no complaints
Only reason i went the KAB over the KJ is i liked the handles the KAB has more than the hooks that KJ uses
    Just personal preference
Aside from that, they do the same thing and are worth the money

This is the biggest problem new kamado owners have.  You will never be convinced by my answer to pay attention to the dome thermometer and forget what the probe on the grate says so I won't say it

This happens to me a lot when im in a hurry
If you rush getting your grill up to temp you may find it'll stay stable for a while but the temp will creep up after a few hours.
I think its got somthing to do with thermal soak within the grill as the ceramics will absorb some of the thermal energy from the fire slowly but then once the cermaics come up to temp and stop absorbing that heat, its got no where to go and you're fire is too big for the temps you want.
This is all beer can engineering though, so i could be way off

As for the DoeJoe, the insert essentially becomes another vent that you cant restrict or control which allows air into the grill, because of this you'll need to adjust your top and bottom vents accordingly.
As for only doing one pizza, its not really designed to fill that gap. The main reason the DoeJoe came into being (aside from marketing) is so you maintain stable dome temp during multiple pizzas becasue you dont have to open and close the lid over and over again like you would if you were churning pizzas out.
As there is no way to shut the grill down with the DoeJoe in place, any lump thats in your basket is gonna have to be consumed at the end of the cook before it can be shut down (this is one of the reasons why I'm not a fan of it). Trying to remove it while hot is an accident waiting to happen, so I wouldnt try that.
If you're only doing one pizza at a time I'd imagine you'll need to figure out the minimum amount of lump you can have in the grill that will allow you to get up to the temps you want for the one pizza you want to cook
Another option would be to ask for recomendations on a cheap, hot lump that burns fast and just use that for pizza cooks

As far as performance, they work well
They dont really change the game anymore than an Akorn with a controller would but it does what it says on the box
The price point is WAY too high, IMO, and i get the feeling that this grill is aimed more at the person who wants to build an "Instagram Worthy" outdoor kitchen than actually get deep into Kamado Cooking

    Buy one
IMO theyre the #1 accessory for your Kamado
"high temp cleaning" will depend on how high youre talking and how often youre taking it there.
If you're planning on doing a clean burn to over 800f on a regular basis, you'll have issues with a couple of things, not just your ash basket
If you do a clean burn once or twice a year and reguarly do pizza between 600f and 700f, you'll be fine

Your market will vary compared to mine but the one thing i can say is dont cheap out on a bottle
While paying $15-$15 for a spritz bottle seems silly when you can pick one up for 99c, there is nothing more annoying than setting up a cook and finding your spritz bottle has packed it in

I went through half a dozen 99c bottles in the space of a couple of months before i figured that out

A little over 1 year in and my weight has dropped from 290lbs down to 205lbs
16 hours fasting and a semi strict keto diet did the trick.
Zero cheat days for close to 8 months and only a few low carb beers a week at a maximum.
Didnt change my exercise output but i work in a physically demanding job, so balancing my energy in vs energy out really did the trick
I've been dancing around the 205 mark for the better part of 3 months despite increasing my "cheat carb" and alcohol intake.

Keto and BBQ is a pretty decent combo assuming you can find/make rubs and sauces that dont mess with your macros (gotta love SPG)
I dont see myself introducing the really bad processed carbs into my diet in the future (bread, pasta and sugar are still off limits) but i've found the adjustment to my lifestyle pretty easy to manage

I'm lighter now than i've been in my Adult life (been over 220lbs since i was 14, i'm 33 now)

Its been fun, except for having to replace my entire wardrobe...

Unless you have a real need for the firebox divider, I'd buy the KAB over the KJ version
The ability to the attach the KJ Basket to the DnC is a novel one, but I don't see a real advantage to it once you get past the "new and shiny" factor
Plus the KAB has better handles on it, making it easier to hold and shake over a bin
I have a KAB and cant fault it

Polar Bear got a reaction from SeaBrisket in Heat tolerance for ash tool and cover?
I leave my Kamado to cook for at least 24 hours before putting the tools away inside it.
I normally store mine with the lid cracked and vents wide open. One morning, about 12 hours after a high temp cook the night before, I gave the ash basket a shake and the grates a scrub and then opened the vents, as i would normally do.
I came back from the supermarket an hour or so later and the grill temp was up to 400f
Now i leave it for at least 24 hours before i open anything up again

I didn't see your original story but I can only imagine what it was.   People show up here fairly regularly as new users for the sole purpose of complaining about someone's customer service.  Since this was your first post here I am assuming that was your intent also.

No one is ever happy when they have to make use of customer service for warranty of some other issue.  If the company fails you in some way that they should not have, then post about it on social media until your heart's content.  Posting about it before you give the company a chance to resolve your issue is just poor form.
