This is offered for sale locally. Does anyone have any thoughts as to age and value? It appears to be in good order, but are parts still available? Thanks!

I use a ceramic 15" circle on top of a ceramic grill store spider.

There are still a number of Walmarts around me with last year's 22" pit boss for $349. Less grill area than the 24", but an outstanding deal. I believe they started at $599 or $699. Brickseek link to check stock around you (enter zip): https://brickseek.com/walmart-inventory-checker?sku=46716275 I do like the blue glaze on the new 2018, but I will keep my black because it works.

I have had the same experience as @EZ smoke. I have a K22 like yours, and added felt to the bottom & top vents. I don't have any problems keeping 225, but it is hard to get the temp back down if you overshoot. Were you able to get 225-250 before you installed the Flame Boss? Also, is the Royal Oak you are using lump or briquettes?

Is your rack resting directly on the disposable pan? I have considered doing that, but I was worried about the pan collapsing.

Good catch, I came here to post the same, 14 hours too late! I would be in for one, but I bought the 8qt instant pot on black Friday. I am only up for learning one new gadget at a time.

Here is a thread I made on sealing it up:

What did your deflector look like after that?

I am wondering how other pit boss owners (especially those with a 22") set up for indirect with a drip pan. I find that the lower grate doesn't have room for a large enough drip pan. When I smoked a turkey on saturday I had the spider with my heat deflector on top. Four 1/2" copper elbows on top of the deflector to create an air gap to prevent the drippings in the drip pan from burning. A 9"x13" pyrex on the elbows as my drip pan, and the lower grate holding the turkey directly on the pyrex. It worked pretty well, but I would love to use a disposable drip pan instead. What do my pit boss brothers do?

It wasn't too overpowering, but I think I am going to go with apple on game day!
