  1. Nice addition. I never thought of that. Eats look delicious.
  2. Just remember if you cook anything in liquid it won't be even. When I do muscles I put scrap wood under mine to level it up
  3. Very nice, I should have thought of a towel bar for the BGE table. Maybe if I build myself one I'll do it too.
  4. Yeah it's a Broil King Keg. I don't want to spend more than I have to. I guess the Weber charcoal grate would work too, it's 18" across
  5. I just left it as is. I'm not sure what this guy did http://www.kamadoguru.com/topic/7318-check-your-akorn-ash-pan-hanger-mount/#entry138777
  6. The Akorn smoking stone is about a .5" to short to fit my my grill securely. I think I'll just buy some non galvanized straps to lay underneath. Saves me $50 for a new one though
  7. Here's what I did http://www.kamadoguru.com/topic/11848-finally-rusted-through-now-i-know-where-the-water-goes/#entry132831
  8. The Firebox sits on the metal hangers. Make sure it didn't slip under them. As long as the clips on the side still pull the ash tray towards the body, your ok.
  9. No but they can weld a new piece....if it's not to much $$$This is the reason I got rid of mine.
  10. Only $100 for a new body or find a welder.
  11. Hook a kegger up. BTW, it doesn't look like there's a mobile site like here
  12. Yeah thanks, I'll hang around and scan for a while, Especially since there doesn't seem to be much going on over there.
  13. I posted previously about how my kamado started to rust out where the ash pan and akorn meet. Just on the inside of the gasket. If it wasn't for the sale price of $450 cdn, I probably would have bought another Akron. I really did like it, probably should have taken better care of the unit.http://www.kamadoguru.com/topic/11848-finally-rusted-through-now-i-know-where-the-water-goes/#entry132831 There's no question that the Broil King is built better though. Here it is built in about 35 minutes. http://s53.photobucket.com/user/tonydipaola/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG026_edit_1405021143826.jpg.html
  14. Here is the one I price matched at the HD for $450+tax. Going to build mine tomorrow. http://s53.photobucket.com/user/tonydipaola/media/Mobile%20Uploads/IMAG0265.jpg.html It sucks that the Keg thread has little conversation unlike this one.
  15. You guys have been more than helpful. Sold my Akorn yesterday and bought a Briol King Keg. I still have the smoking stone if someone is in Niagara region, you can have it. Cheers
  16. Dump the diffuser. I just salt the steak (rib eye) and toss it on 3 min per side at about 500. Good luck
  17. I'm looking for a deal on a bsk currently. My Akorn it's rusting pretty good now. It's worth the difference in price imo. http://www.kamadoguru.com/topic/11848-finally-rusted-through-now-i-know-where-the-water-goes/#entry132831 Update: I was able to get on from local HD for $500 tax in after Rona price match.
  18. I had the same issue so I bumped this old thread. Just an FYI
  19. I used molasses instead of sugar and "00" insted of AP flour it turned out just fine
  20. Wow, you guys really load the Akron up. I normally do about a chimney worth for regular grilling. I don't like to load more, can't stand the taste from lump that's starting to ignite (thanks Royal Oak blue bag)
  21. January 2012 I think. I expect to get another 2 years out of it. Just bought a 13.5" grate. No worries yet.
