First glance at this reminds me of a j-tube or rocket stove heater. Looks like same principle.

I wouldn’t say I’m OCD but it will prolly bug me. I thinking I’m going to smear some RTV and let it cure on the little angle feet before I set it in. Should keep it from sliding and tipping to one side.

Hey all, Finally got around to buying a jr and just finished assembling. Went together really easily and everything lined up well so all is good.The only thing that seemed off was the fire bowl. When I placed it in the lower shell, it seems to slide around quite a bit. Not a huge deal other than I can see it sliding and tipping whenever I place or remove a deflector plate or stone. To all the junior owners out there, is this normal?

I've been looking to break into the kamado world and based on the price and positive reviews, the Akorn Jr. seemed like the logical choice since I don't grill for large groups. I pretty much made up my mind and was going to hold off until after labor day to see if this were any end-of-season deals. I purchased the inkbird a couple months ago and have used it about 10 times. Love I and the Bluetooth to the phone is beyond convenient!

Hey all. Been lurking on this site a couple times. While doing some research on grills to replace my old burned out weber (ended up getting another one) I came across the akorn jr and think it will be perfect for my household as we're down to three most of the time. I love the idea of heating up quickly and using so little fuel when cooking for just us. I'm hoping it gets me grilling more often in the evenings and during cooler weather as well as using for tailgating. I've already learned a lot and I'm sure will learn much more. Just waiting now to see if their are any end of season sales on the jr. I'll have to order online as no local retailer appears to to carry them in the store.
