  1. LOL....So Funny. Every time we hear about Canadians (or even worst, Quebecers and make us sound like retarded while speakin), In American TV shows or movies, It's always like we are from the 1700's and still live in the woods . When I think about it.... that's almost true lol
  2. From Quebec city, You don't have to worry about it!
  3. I often use them, Pecan and Cherry are my go to... You'll find cheaper bags at BBQ Quebec but won't find "cheap" as you would in USA. Everytime I get to an American Walmart, cant believe how many brands of charcoals and chunks they have... From Quebec, I understand what you live.
  4. I understand your point. But first: is an half & half gasket going to work properly, without the latch and the right hinge. And honestly, I'm not Interested in having a FranKamado'enstein. I mean, half of it "original", and the other half second generation. Not designed to work together but it 'may" work. I want "full original gasket" or "full classic gasket". I think it's fair. Only sending me the right parts to upgrade the kamado would be so simple: upper gasket and new hinge. Would be cheaper and faster for them in shipping for sure, and they would have
  5. Hi, little follow up ... It's more than four months now (19 weeks) and I'm still waiting. I received a base 2 weeks ago BUT it was a new one, with the mesh gasket (which I don't have). I called them back. First the told me to scrape the gasket..... Wasn't very happy with it... dirty job for a new part. So, they told me they'll send me another one, the good one. I asked them to send me a mesh gasket for my top and a new hinge instead to make it work and they refused (don't know if it was a technical problem or they just don't want). I received the second replacement base yesterday,
  6. Finally, I should receive the bowl in august. I mean 3 months later....
  7. Hey guys, little follow up! I sent another email, askin for an update, and I received this answer today: "Thanks for reaching out to us and we apologize you are still waiting on your order. I checked on the order and they are giving a couple weeks lead time before it is shipped out to you" .......
  8. Are you in Canada? We don't have to get a poorer customer service because they decide to make changes to the design... In my mind, you keep parts of your old style or you simply provide the new style with everything necessary to make it work. When a bought my kamado Joe, I bought their warranty, peace of mind.
  9. Sounds like you are right on.... The last lady I spoke with seems 'interested' But no follow up. Will tell you guys how this evoluates..... if it does
  10. What make me mad, the most, is that I had to call them back to learn the item was back order.... Clearly, my case was in a crack. The last person told me she was going to take care of it, and nothing. Not an email, not a callback, nothing. And, my base is cracked, not my firebox, that's serious. Who would heat a cracked kamado to 800*? On a wooden deck? Verry irresponsible, and they told me to..... I had a beginning of rust on a weber kettle, where the leg meet the bowl. It was almost nothing. I asked them what they think? They sent me a new bowl, for the safety, 5 days later. That
  11. (877) 215-6299..... dont know who I was talking to but honestly, what a shame... I have an awesome grill on my deck but it's used as basket for my old charcoal from my kettles..... sometimes i open it and take few charcool soops to acook on an other grill....
  12. Hi everyone, I'm here to share with you a short story of what I'm living know with the Kamado Joe customer service. I bought a Joe Classic in 2013. On may 6th, i found a crack on the base of the joe, that run under it third way I'd say. May 7h, I received a order number for the replacement. And then, nothing. On june 4th, I asked for an update about my case by email, nobody took care of my request. June 8th, I called them to know what happened, the gril told me there was notihing but a conversation note.... she did not foud the o
  13. Hi everyone, I'm a Kamadoguru user for a while. I wrote or asked a few things years ago, never stopped consulting.... This site made me buy a kamado joe in 2013. I'm a heavy bbqer, not only on my kamado but also on the few weber kettles I own. I Love this site, I love bbq. Everyone on this forum is passionnante and I love that. This forum helped me to improve my skills A LOT. The reason why I'm back "active" is because I want to share a customer service issue with you. I think you guys should know how I'm treated as a customer, somewhere.
  14. I usually enjoy the pictures but i don't comment a lot.... but THIS cook looks amazing... a nice mix of cooking skills and BBQ skills... I have a lot of difficulty to find nice rice for paella here in Quebec, Canada... (quebec city) :( Nice job!!!
  15. Hey Guys, I recently bought a used weber q100 for camping… I own a Kamado Joe Classic and decided to take the cast iron grate of my q to grill on my Joe…. (put it on my SS grate)… What a deal… a 60$ used little bbq provides me a large cast iron grate that fits on my joe... Just to let you know, it makes nice sears!!!! better than a SS grate! I'm a Stainless Steel Saler in life, and honestly, nothing equal cast Iron to sear! CheeR
  16. That makes sense then Ben. That's a lot more than "normal" usage. ok thank you… I was wondering what was wrong… I tried to call KJ customer service on their toll free number, doesn't work from Canada (unfortunately) A guy who's from the distributor here in the province of Quebec, Canada, told me to loose every bolts and tight them again, tryin to adjust the best I can… Honestly, it didn't really help cause I tried this more than once and nothin works… He said the Kamado after a lot of cook "moves" and needs adjustment after the gasket change. He even told me to move the band fixed to

  18. My bottom one was almost gone, and I have my KJ for 11 months now. I use it about 5 times a week… so approximately 250 cooks, anormal? If you are referring about having to replace the gaskets every year Ben, you shouldn't. I had over 800 cooks on my original Classic Joe before I replaced its gaskets, and even then they were still in fairly decent shape. I'm not saying you will get that many cooks, but even if you cook three times a week, you should be able to go a few years without having to change them.
  19. I think your're right… I thinks I sould have remove the lid at begining. Would have been easyer to change its gasket and everything would fit better today… My problem is the -22*… not easy to do that kind of job in those conditions!
  20. Thanks! Great video. My only question about it is at the end, he untight the screw (what I did) and it resolves the problem, and than retight it. When I do this, the lid goes back at its original position and I have this gap back… My lid is loose the way it is actually, i can move it from the lift to the right when I open it (a little bit only of course, but doesnt feel solid) Should I hold the lid strongly while I retight the screw… ? Honestly I'm a bit disapointed that something you should do every year becomes a pain like this…. I dont really car about the alligment of the lid cause it have
  21. Hi, I've change both of the gaskets on my classic today. Once done, I realized that I couldn't completely close my lid again. There's a litlle gap at the front between the base and the lid. I untight the bolt at the rear (the allen one, holding the lid in the cast iron edge,). It seems to help but i feel that it's not tight as it was and I'm afraid of having an hermetical problem. I also realized that my lid and my base aren't completely alligned, looks like 1/8 inch more toward right... If someone could help me a bit about how adjust the hinge and the alignment il would be very apprec
  22. Quebec city, Canada, cold. I crank mine as fast as I can, no mater how cold it is... A beast is a beast, and a lifetime warranty is a lifetime warrranty, LOL. Seriously, the cold weather, the snow, the rain, the whatever you want has no effect on the joe. I only pull off the top vent while Joe is Heathing and keep it in my house for a few minutes cause its usually totally frozen. Put it back and set it up. BBq time. I can even affirm that the cold air has a very good effect on the joe! Low temperature = high oxygen! I made ribs last week at -25 celcius and kept the joe at 225 VERY e
