  8. ...yup I can relate to that as well....I just find I dont fit any category that exists today! not religous, political or otherwise....
  9. yup....same here as a brit in Germany...they walk on the side they drive...so I was bumping as well until I 'got in line'.....and I still laugh when the brits come over here, you can see them at work directly as they truly walk on the other side of the corridors and thro doors and stuff....is dead funny....and that as an expat....
  10. I think political views should be pushed into political forums....I dont either agree or disagree landscaper, I just wanted to post a humorous reflection on the UK and the Brits...not a political discussion, religous discussion or otherwise....this is our kamado forum. We all have stuff in common and love our cookers and BBQ.... I also have to say...the no go zones are not down to just a certain religion....there are no go zones that are a collective of migrant people that do this stuff...there are examples in France from Romas who do the same and that is not because of their faith and they are not the faith that was mentioned I also do not agree with belittling another religion regardless of what religion I may or may not be.....I also understand there is stuff taht all experience in their countries that may wind people up to feel a certain way but lest we all not forget all of this does not make for a goood future....tolerance and good mannered acceptance si what we all seem to slowly be losing and I do not see this as a good trait. I am of no political leaning or religous but I do hold a core set of values...there si always right n wrong on all sides....but again this is our grill forum set aside from religion and politics....the post was just supposed to be a humourous thing This is the last I will write on the topic ....guys lets get back to grilling and apologies to where this has now gone....
  11. ...it was written with humour....I dont see it being really negative about the US...or the UK just runs thro some of the quaint ways and stuff in the UK....not sure how that cld have been taken negatively...'no go' zones...? Hmm which do you mean? http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5128/france-no-go-zones http://www.gatestoneinstitute.org/5177/no-go-zones-britain This is our future. Oturds dream and a Lib paradise. by the way yup in France there a couple of very small estates in certain places that are like this where the police dont go...the UK thats totally BS....there are some areas where certain communities are more prevalent than others but still no way that you shouldnt go there and police dont go there...thats real BS...I can assure you of that personally.....there are always some places you dont want to go to at night (like every country) and no-one knows what will happen with the mass influx and potential terrorist threat influx that may come with it...but this is all EU...in fact UK being the better decision as to import ONLY from the region itself and camps and not let every tom, #### and harry in regardless of where they came from or what they are or were (Germany, Italy, Greece, etc etc....all caused by Angela Merkel) How funny is that you cant call Richard by his short name...forum blanks it out LoL Tom, Richard and Harry ....what would you do if your username was the sort form of Richard!!!

Hmm which do you mean? I took it quite unrelated to any political leaning....not sure where the politics came in, or did he hit on a subject that I didnt see... anyways was supposed to be more of a humorous thing rather than a politcal discussion or a love/hate thing...I just found some of teh stuff he observed about the UK funny... oh p.s dont believe the one about smoking or the trains the trains are not that good, trains and punctuality in germany...now thats a big diff and is pretty much spot on to timetables and the Germans still complain LoL! * There are no guns * People don't seem to be afraid of their neighbors or the government * Black people are just people: they didn't quite do slavery here * Obama is considered a hero, Bush is considered an idiot. * Nearly everyone is better educated then we are * Everyone here has a passport, only 14% of Americans do. * Their TV looks and sounds much better then ours * Everyone knows more about our history then we do * Their cash makes ours look like Monopoly money. * Europeans dress better then the British, we dress worse * There are a lot of healthy old folks wandering around participating in life instead of hiding at home watching tv. * Their healthcare works, but they still bitch about it. * There are still no guns ...have to agree with you on a few points now I read between the lines a little but still keeping in mind he is not portraying his opinion as such ...what the brits think *There are no guns ---- is just a statement and fact....but he may have added this in direction of a politcal opinion but is still a fact, you would be hard pushed to find Brits with guns (regradless of politics) * People don't seem to be afraid of their neighbors or the government ---Brits hate the government (and is really regardless of which party is running things....which people in which country are happy with the government) * Black people are just people: they didn't quite do slavery here ---Hmm of course it did happen but I guess he is refering to how a black person feels in the UK, there is almost no affiliation to slavery feelings or references to such * Obama is considered a hero, Bush is considered an idiot. ---is just a fact, the Brist do really think OB is good in comparison to Bush....but its just what they think...and they dont really like him either...seriously who likes any politicians * Nearly everyone is better educated then we are ---not sure its true at all as a mass genralisation, but just his take on the people he met on his travels.... * Everyone here has a passport, only 14% of Americans do. ---is a fact...we cant go anywhere and do anything w/o it...you have a large country varied in all ways with cliamte, mountains, skiing etc...Brits have to go to other countries and thus have to have passports...not sure why this could be political * Their TV looks and sounds much better then ours ---does he mean the Tv itself or the programs....I would pretty much guess there are slight diff's in the box itself as TV's are tuned to the market where sold ...the programs, we get the same series from you guys and vice versa * Everyone knows more about our history then we do ---maybe the people he spoke to (the educated ones)...but I can promise you may american history knowledge is very limited I guess he didnt run into people from certain places in the UK * Their cash makes ours look like Monopoly money. ---I think all foreign money looks funny...its what your used to that is the norm...is just his opinion not sure how that is political.... * Europeans dress better then the British, we dress worse ---maybe because in the UK all have to wear suits and ties when office jobs, no slacks, chinos, polo shirts etc...bet he didnt see the unemployed living off social care Brits here * There are a lot of healthy old folks wandering around participating in life instead of hiding at home watching tv. ---the older folks in the UK never had TV's and still dont believ in it * Their healthcare works, but they still bitch about it. ---hes just saying what he saw worked but the brits still complain....is also true it does work, has some minor flwas with the way its run and controlled...but I get what you mean with political leaning we heard about obama care and all that * There are still no guns ---yup get the twice mentioned item is pushing a plotical direction But all in all I still dont see it really as political and he wrote it in a humourous way and is just a list of english quaint things...

  16. Guys, read this today and some of it is funny but also interesting as an expat Brit living in germany to see how others perceive the Brits....is from an artist from Florida I believe who spent a few weeks in the UK... https://www.facebook.com/iScottFL/posts/10207706696650031?pnref=story here are the points he listed:- Scott Waters 24 September at 22:25 · Edited · I was in England again a few weeks ago, mostly in small towns, but here's some of what I learned: * Almost everyone is very polite * The food is generally outstanding * There are no guns * There are too many narrow stairs * Everything is just a little bit different * The pubs close too early * Pubs are not bars, they are community living rooms. * You'd better like peas, potatoes and sausage * Refrigerators and washing machines are very small * Everything is generally older, smaller and shorter * There are very well behaved dogs everywhere * People don't seem to be afraid of their neighbors or the government * Their paper money makes sense, the coins don't * Everyone has a washing machine but driers are rare * The reason they drive on the left is because all their cars are built backwards * Hot and cold water faucets. Remember them? * Pants are called "trousers", underwear are "pants" and sweaters are "jumpers" * The bathroom light is a string hanging from the ceiling * "Fanny" is a naughty word, as is "shag" * All the signs are well designed with beautiful typography and written in full sentences with proper grammar. * There's no dress code * Doors close by themselves, but they don't always open * They eat with their forks upside down * English are as crazy about their gardens as Americans are about cars * They don't use facecloths or napkins * The wall outlets all have switches, some don't do anything. * There are hardly any cops or police cars. • There are 5,000 year old rocks still standing around. No one is sure why * When you do see police they seem to be in male & female pairs and often smiling * Black people are just people: they didn't quite do slavery here * Everything comes with chips, which are French fries. You put vinegar on them * Cookies are "biscuits" and potato chips are "crisps" * HP sauce is better then catsup * Obama is considered a hero, Bush is considered an idiot. * After fish and chips, curry is the most popular food * The water controls in showers need detailed instructions * Folks don't always lock their bikes * It's completely normal to see people dressing different and speaking different languages * Electronic devices work fine with just a plug adapter. * Nearly everyone is better educated then we are * If someone buys you a drink you must do the same. * There are no guns * Look right, walk left * It's not that hard to eat with the fork in your left hand with a little practice. If you don't, everyone knows you're an American * Many of the roads are the size of our sidewalks * There's no AC. * Instead of turning the heat up, you put on a jumper * Gas is "petrol", it costs about $7 a gallon and is sold by the liter * If you speed on a motorway, you get a ticket. Always. * You don't have to tip, really! * Scotland, Wales, Ireland and Cornwall really are different countries * Everyone here has a passport, only 14% of Americans do. * You pay the price marked on products because the taxes (VAT) are built in. * Walking is the national pastime * Their TV looks and sounds much better then ours * They took the street signs down during WWII but haven't put them all back up yet. * Everyone enjoys a good joke * There are no guns * Dogs are very well behaved and welcome everywhere * There are no window screens * You can get on a bus and end up in Paris. * Everyone knows more about our history then we do * Radio is still a big deal. The BBC is quite good * The newspapers can be awful * Everything costs the same but our money is worth less so you have to add 50% to the price to figure what you're paying * Beer comes in large, completely filled, actual pint glasses and the closer the brewery the better the beer * Butter and eggs aren't refrigerated * The beer isn't warm, each style is served at the proper temperature * Cider (alcoholic) is quite good. * Excess cider consumption can be very painful. * The universal greeting is "Cheers" (pronounced "cheeahz" unless you are from Cornwall, then it's "chairz") * The money is easy to understand: 1-2-5-10-20-50 pence, then-£1-£2-£5-£10, etc bills. There are no quarters. * Their cash makes ours look like Monopoly money. * Cars don't have bumper stickers * Many doorknobs, buildings and tools are older than America * By law, there are no crappy, old cars * When the sign says something was built in 456, they didn't lose the "1" Cake is is pudding, ice cream is pudding, anything served for desert is pudding, even pudding. * BBC 4 is NPR * Everything closes at 1700 (5pm) * Very few people smoke * You're defined by your accent * No one in Cornwall knows what a Cornish Game Hen is * Soccer is a religion, religion is a sport * Europeans dress better then the British, we dress worse * The trains work: a three minute delay is regrettable • Drinks don't come with ice * There are far fewer fat English people * There are a lot of healthy old folks wandering around participating in life instead of hiding at home watching tv. * If you're over 60 and English, you get free bus, rail travel and tv. * Displaying your political or religious affiliation is considered very bad taste * Every pub has a pet drunk * Their healthcare works, but they still bitch about it. * Cake is one of the major food groups. * Their coffee is mediocre but their tea is wonderful. * There are still no guns * Towel warmers! * Cheers .....how did any of you guys find the Uk and the English during any trips to the UK...?
  17. looking great Husker....just one tip for the future though.....the weisswurst are normally boiled if they are true weisswursts! dont tell someone from bavaria that you grilled them.....sacrilege....they just warm then in a hot water bath and serve without boiling them.... nice touch with the weizenbier...Paulaner

  24. ...the website no longer has pictures and they call it a kamodo http://www.alfrescogrills.com/about-alfresco/it states that all products are made in the US as well...?? "Alfresco Open Air Culinary Systems is based in Southern California. All products are made and manufactured in the USA with the finest grade materials. Superior Equipment Solutions, the parent company, also manufactures the Artisan residential brand as well as several well- established commercial brands. - See more at: http://www.alfrescogrills.com/about-alfresco/#sthash.I8YWExqr.dpuf" maybe drop them a line and ask directly where they are made and are they really in the US... a lot of stuff is assembled in a country but sourced in others... but they do have some cool outdoor kitchens....but no real reference to the Kamado you found.... http://www.alfrescogrills.com/1071/kamodo-grill-available-models/
