Thank you all for the welcoming! keeperovdeflame - thank you for the tip on the thermometer...I will be sure to get wireless as it get's very cold in St. Louis, MO this time of year. Your vertical chicken sounds great...I will definitely do something easy to get my feet week. Thank you! rwalters - I will send pics when I get her out of crate! still waiting on the bobcat to arrive before I break crate apart. She's a beaut! I was cooking with a gasser before and loved the minimal maintenance but I love chicken and I couldn't cook it moist unless I babysat er. Don't get me wrong...I love my red meat but sometimes we get into a health kick and "limit" ourselves on the stripes/filets. My girlfriends Uncle bought us this grill as a housewarming present...clearly best housewarming gift ever!! I have a lot to learn to say the least...but very excited to try different cooks. Appreciate the tips on getting her heat soaked prior to cook...definitely important info for a rookie. Is there any specific videos or blogs you would refer me too...think I might need a Komodo 101 lesson. Thank you all and great to be a part of the forum! pictures to come. G2

Hello Grillmasters! Glad to be a part of the Kamado Guru and look forward to getting dialed in on some well (not literally) cooked meats! First off...this thing is a beast!! In the right corner, "Refractory Brick" KK weighing in at +730#! unbelievable. Delivery service wheeled down my driveway with pallet jackand immediately I knew we didn't have a chance getting this beast onto my patio, 8 inch height. I planned to have four or five guys help hoist but didn't want to risk...now having buddy bring his bobcat over this afternoon!!! Anyway, what do you guys reckon I christen this bad boy with!?!?! Also, if you have a any easy cooks that you would recommend knowing im getting my feet wet... Also, have a few other questions... 1) Do you recommend I buy a specific thermometer? And do I need a meat thermometer (probe)? or thermometer that attaches to my grate i'm cooking on? 2) Is there a specific motor I need for rotisserie cooks? 3) Will snow/rain hurt tiling if not covered? 4) Any additional attachment/accessories you would recommend I buy? 5) Finally, what insider tips can you give me? Ex) I understand it's tough to get heat to come down once already built up, trick, close vents and burp it once heat builds up and do this every so often until you reach your desired temp. Thank you for allowing me to join the guru forum, look forward to hearing back fro you. Greg
