  1. I did have to place my pizza stone (how i do indirect) directly on the grill grate since it was hitting the thermometer probe when I had the stand off rack in there. Will try it again maybe omit the eggs and see what it do.
  2. Tried this last night. It was kind of dry and burned on the bottom. Would have liked it creamier. Temp went to 400 for a minute other than that not sure where i went wrong.
  3. When I mess up at work I get my ashchute out. It's cool though I'm a chimney sweep. Jokes aside neat idea. Granted I wouldn't buy one as I'm a cheap ash but could see a market.
  4. Ehh. This new batch has no flavor and the inner barrel left tiny metal flakes all over the charcoal. I thought I could screen it but when I opened the grill yesterday to light it i could see the metal flake in the ash. Might try a wire grinding wheel. Im walking a fine line here. Obviously I can't grind too much or the metal will be compromised and burn through. .....
  5. So I sort of solved the problem of keeping the good charcoal seperated from the ash that is left over after it's made. The clamp holds the inner barrel while the big barrel is flipped upside down to dump the ash. Will have to try that. I'm basically out and will have to make another couple of batches when I get home from vacation.Yeah I suggest two clamps as one didn't do it.
  6. I weighed a batch. I think it was 12 pounds.

  8. Going for the trifecta, possibly tonight depending on weather.
  9. Wow. Didn't realize this could even be an issue.
  10. Haven't been able to grill? That must have been like jail. Welcome home.
  11. No I did not. I thought it smelled similar to the homemade applewood charcoal I make.
