New Akorn Jr Owner from LA (originally from the Bay Area)
dsarcher replied to lowbee's topic in Introductions
Doubt any difference. Worked like a champ with the chicken. -
I live in Spring, TX which is just north of Houston just south of the Woodlands, we had over 28" from Fri through today. We were very blessed in that we did not have any flooding in our neighborhood. Unfortunately a lot of Houston is a mess. The rain slowed considerably today, also the sun came out late this afternoon (that's the moon in the photo) also 2 military choppers with Red Cross labels on them. They are landing at our local high school where one of my sons graduated from.

Bought a Jr for my 20 year old, he will grill more than he will use the stone so I bought a pair .97 cent tongs drilled out the rivet bent the tongs to fit, added a 10" clay pot saucer wrapped it in foil. Total cost $5. He is thrilled. -
Best price on Akorn Jr. ever....

Wow. Nice, Really Nice. -
only basket I have is the rectangle one, I got off of amazon.
-
Great looking bird. I'd recommend patting the bird dry with paper towels and let it sit in ref uncovered for a few hours to help dry the skin before taking it for a spin.

Awesome looking meat loaf, one of our family favorites.

Great looking meal. I have never roasted carrots on the grill, need to give it a try. -
Wow. Ribs many ways, I like. Great photos.

Dessert is the most important part of a meal. Thanks for sharing.

Fantastic looking cook. I see you are putting that new camera to work. Beautiful photos. -
I've had a vision classic b for 4 years and love it. The double rack is a little awkward but not a deal breaker. I agree that most of the displays at sams are not put together well, but over the past few years I have seen several BGE and KJ's on display that were not assemble well either. I would buy another vision in a heart beat. I like the simplicity of the classic b.

SImple pork butt and baked beans
dsarcher replied to 75tranzam's topic in Kamado Cooking and Discussion
You have one lucky son, but I am sure he deserves this. I had to chuckle when you said "nothing fancy, just pulled pork, baked beans on the joe, cole slaw and potato salad" I know a lot of people that would consider that a feast. -
The Big Joe delivers another great meal.

Great looking cook. About to go to bed, unfortunately after seeing your photos I will be going to bed hungry. -
First thing I did with my joetisserie was a prime rib. Go big or go home. Got to admit I at the time I was wishing I had turned a chicken for practice, but it turned out awesome.
