Great video. I make bbq beans probably 5 to 6 times a month, but use Bush brand can beans. Have thought about making from dried beans but never got around to it. I think your video may get me over the hump. Thanks for sharing.

dsarcher got a reaction from Triggaaar in People who abandon kamado cooking
Does the cook make the kamado or does the kamado make the cook? I love to cook period! I really don't care what method as long as it turns out some good food. I still use my gas grill (I know I am not supposed to admit that but it is the truth) I bake a lot in a oven, I fry fish and shrimp from time to time, I dutch oven cook and cook over an open fire when camping. That being said I do love to cook on my kamado. So when I got my first kamado a year and a half ago, the learning curve was pretty small. I am glad I found this forum, some for the advice but a lot for the creativity that you folks have, definitely an area where I am lacking. Not creative but can borrow an idea quickly. People that like or love to cook will stick with it and figure it out. But if you don't really enjoy cooking and you just happen to get a wild hair one day and buy a kamado chances are you will use it a few times, then let it sit for a couple of years and finally get around to selling it. Not the kamados fault, not their fault either. Its just not their  thing. To answer my original question, it's a little of both, but I think mostly the cook makes the kamado. The kamado does make it much easier.

Have used this for several years, makes just the right amount for the Cuisinart ice cream maker.
1 14oz can sweetened condensed milk
use the empty sweetened condensed milk can to measure the next 2 ingredients
    1 can whipping cream
    1 can half and half
    2 teaspoons of real vanilla

Best I have ever had and easy to remember.

Bought a Jr for my 20 year old, he will grill more than he will use the stone so I bought a pair .97 cent tongs drilled out the rivet bent the tongs to fit, added a 10" clay pot saucer wrapped it in foil. Total cost $5. He is thrilled.

I live in Spring, TX which is just north of Houston just south of the Woodlands, we had over 28" from Fri through today. We were very blessed in that we did not have any flooding in our neighborhood. Unfortunately a lot of Houston is a mess. The rain slowed considerably today, also the sun came out late this afternoon (that's the moon in the photo) also 2 military choppers with Red Cross labels on them. They are landing at our local high school where one of my sons graduated from.

    hey y'all,
always wanted to try a UDS, so why not?  i left it ugly and scavenged as many parts as i could, was on s mission to keep the cost down & i ended up spending about $70.

its been a fun project & fun to cook on something different.  i did a pork shoulder today & ran the drum with my flameboss & the results were fantastic!

i'm going to build a charcoal basket at some point but so far have just been filling the bottom 1/2 of a weber smokey joe & just drop it in there.

Are you trying to incite a riot?? J.kidding. If I were you I would look at the Costco road show schedule before making a decision. All 3 of those choices are fine, but if you can get a good deal like a road show deal that would be 2 wins. Read up on each brand and do some research on your own. Kj. owners will say go with kj ,eggheads will go beg, visionaries will say go vision....etc

First thing I did with my joetisserie was a prime rib. Go big or go home. Got to admit I at the time I was wishing I had turned a chicken for practice, but it turned out awesome.
