A Simple Cook - Breaded Chicken
danielc replied to CeramicChef's topic in Kamado Cooking and Discussion
@danielc - it's a baking stone sold by KK. I use that stone for a lot of things … pizza, deserts, breads, etc. it has remarkable thermal properties. Very quick recycle times and that's important when doing a fair number of pizza pies one after the other. Ok thx! That's what it looked like. I just assumed that chicken would make a real mess of a stone. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Looks great! Is that cooked on a pizza stone? Or just a metal pan? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
You don't say what temp you are planning to cook but imo if you want to cook it in 7 hrs you will need to either wrap it after a while or cook it closer to 300....at least based on my experience. The 1.5 hrs per pound doesn't scale down for smaller ones....they take longer per lb. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Looks great! Any special seasonings in the rice? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I saw some at Lowes and was tempted. How would you say the salt block made it better? In what way? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I generally fill mine up. Just clean it first of any ash, put larger pieces at the bottom and smaller on top. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I would expect the top vent to seal up with gunk after a few cooks unless you see a big gap Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
The last time I went to Ontario Gas BBQ they had remodelled and were in the process of setting everything up again. I had also heard they had been bought out by another company. I just thought I'd mention that tonight when I happened to check their web site (www.bbqs.com) it has now been re-branded to Barbecue World. It looks like they are also planning 2 other locations. Anyone know anything about this company? Dan Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Really enjoy your videos. The only. Thing I always wonder is why the "Baby back maniac" has an opening sequence showing steak instead of baby back ribs . But I realize that may not be as pretty a shot without the sizzle, glowing coals, etc. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Don't know if I've ever tries smoked salt but sounds interesting. Once it's done do you need to do anything special with it for storage? Or just treat like regular salt? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Very nice. I was wondering if it was strong enough to be used without the fire grate. I kinda expected it would sag down once it gets really hot.

My problem is I can see an air gap about 1/8" by 1 1/4"... that seems... excessive. Or perhaps I'm overly cautious. You can show Vision a photo. I was having issues and showed them, they said mine looked bent and sent me a new drawer and rails.

Don't want to smell smoke whenever I open the kitchen drawer Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It is silicone....first time I've had this happen. Maybe it's crappy silicone...dunno.

This weekend I did a smoked eye of round smoked with hickory. Towards the end I basted it twice with a steak sauce using a silicone basting brush. My issue is that even after having washed it, and soaked it, the basting brush still has a smoke smell. Any of you gurus have tricks for removing the smoke smell? Thx! You can call Vision to confirm, but to me the main differences seem to be... .. The pro c comes with the lava stone .. The top vent for the the C has the fine adjustment knob .. The Bottom vent on the S has two dials of the same size while the C has the big one and small one I think the fine adjustments are nice, but the big thing is the lava stone. I don't know how much if would cost you for a deflector of other spurts or to buy this one, along with making or buying a rack to hold it on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
