I bought two of these and sprayed the covers with Flex seal to ensure they stay waterproof. Have under my BGE table for years now with no leaks and no rodents. https://www.lowes.com/pd/COMMANDER-27-Gallon-108-Quart-Black-Yellow-Tote-with-Standard-Snap-Lid/3551290 https://www.lowes.com/pd/Flex-Seal-14-fl-oz-Black-Aerosol-Spray-Rubberized-Coating/3691166

Who says the egg is only for the main course?

We served it warm with real vanilla bean icecream. -
Candied Bourbon Bacon smoked Brownies on the BGE Candied the bacon with a splash of Bourbon, salt, pepper and brown sugar while I was grilling chicken for the main course. I cheated and used boxed brownie mix but used the bacon drippings in place of vegetable oil. Once my chicken cook was done,, I added some apple chips and then I added the brownie mix to my cast iron pan and topped with the candied bacon. 40 mins at 350 with the platesetter in made an awesome crust on the edges and perfectly cooked brownies. It was a hit as there is none left

I have been a long time member here, I started my Kamado 4 years ago on a BJ special Brinkman, now out of business. Well my firebox cracked as did my place setter, but that thing taught me a lot about cooking on a Kamado and ensuring how to seal it up and overcome that models challenges. Well today I join the Egghead club in a big way with the BGE XL. I am super stoked to get grilling on my new baby.

Made a final choice on Firestarting
icegrill replied to mike echo's topic in Kamado Cooking and Discussion
I have been very happy with two paper towels rolled right on an angle bias of the sheet, a few drops of cooking oil and I always have these in hand. Starts the fire just as good at the fire starters and no need to buy anything special. -

I also foil my brisket and add a 1/2 cup of Expresso when at the crutch and plenty of people rave about the flavor not liking coffee they never believe me when I tell them what it is Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

My wife hates coffee but loves this rub on steaks and always asks for more when we run out: 0.5 cup sugar in the raw 0.5 cup kosher salt 3 TBS chilli powder 3 TBS smoked paprika 1 TBS of red pepper flakes 1 tsp garlic powder 1 tsp onion powder 1 tsp coarse black pepper 1 tsp Expresso 1/4 tsp of cayenne Allow it to meld for a day or two before using. For seasoning we use 1 cup of sugar, 1 tsp of sea salt and 7 TBS of rice wine vinegar. Heat on the stove until sugar is combined and then fold into the rice, cool rice by fanning it as folding , you will have some great sticky flavorful rice. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Make sure and get short grain rice. Add the amount of rice you want to the pot, and add enough to water to be about an inch over the rice. Bring to a boil, lower heat to low simmer. Simmer for 15 min with cover on. At 15 min turn off the heat and leave the rice covered for 15 more mins. Immediately empty rice into a non reactive bowl, and season as desired Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Used a Brown sugar and pepper drive rub and finished with some hickory bourbon bbq sauce.

I just got a bag of bayou classic lump Charcoal, 18lbs for 14 and I really like it minimal ash, nice size pieces and little to no ash, and it smells and imparts nice taste to the food

I really like the setup, what did you use? Are those just stainless pans? @RedJoeThey are just X-large SS dog bowls I got from Tractor Supply Company. How did you get the dryer vent into the top bowl?
