  4. Since the Akron is not ceramic there are ways to perform quick temperature changes, including lowering it. I use the method demonstrated in this video. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. One cheap way to add a basket is simply to use a fryer basket. I grab this one from lowes, cheap, then I just broke the handles off. The biggest benefit for me is that it keeps all the charcoal under the smoking stone, so I avoid burnt meat from any direct heat while going low and slow. And the akorn is so efficient that I have not ran out of fuel in a 12 hour cook with it.
  10. Thanks Larry very interesting, Gotta give that a try, as I usually stick just to mozzarella for my pies.
  11. Congratulations! I just had to smile when I realized I have the same grills you are proudly displaying. - one big joe and two akorns! They are all great cookers. https://vimeo.com/151287213
  12. Flip it in the grill and let the heat from the next cook burn it clean.
  13. Great looking meal. This is definitely worth trying. Have to add it to my to do list.
  14. Wow. What a great moment! Let's get that bad boy on the grill!
  15. Great cook, don't forget to use some kind of diffuser when it's time to smoke those ribs.
  16. Congrats on the buy. You can use a Webber charcoal grate with an aluminum pizza pan as a heat diffuser and it does work. But after buying stones for my akorns, the temps seem to hold even better. A $35 solution is not a bad deal.
  17. Great setup. Love the tile selection.
  18. Great video and good to know the vacuumed cheese will stay that long.
  19. Thanks for the great video. Can't wait to give this a try. I just had lunch yet this still made me hungry!
