  1. I live near you, and I have a black Big Joe too I need to sell. No upgrades on mine. I bought it on CL, and soon after bought a new one at Costco. The sales reps, last time I talked to one, said a black Big Joe could get a premium. Good luck. Advertise it locally and see what happens.
  2. I got a Classic II last Black Friday, and the gasket was torn a bit too. Not as bad as your's, but I did not worry about it. Slight bit of rubbing on the inside too.
  3. I was told by the sales dude at the local Roadshow at Costco that the black KJ's are only sold in Australia. Apparently Barbeques Galore wanted a black model, and they got it since they buy so many of them. Just what I was told. https://www.barbequesgalore.com.au/kamado-joe-large-black
  4. Got lucky and my SO was browsing Amazon and they had the Classic II in a Lightning Deal on their front page. It was a super sweet deal that did not last long at all.
  5. Bit on the Amazon deal. So now I have the Kamado Joe Trifecta of the Big Joe, Joe Jr and now a Classic II. Almost considered a Quad, still have a black Big Joe I need to part with. But with just me and the missus, 3 Joe's is plenty enough!
  6. Not sure why you would have 1.5 inches of waste on at least one end. Just the cut the bag off the roll, put the heater bar about 3/4" from the end, and seal. About the only rolls I use anymore is the expandable rolls for things like prime rib roasts. And I get in the habit of double sealing anyway.
  7. I picked up one of these at a pawn shop here in Austin. I think I paid around $29 for it They didn't know the worth of it. Yes, dual contact and non-contact. Same principal. Plus I like Fluke quality.... https://www.amazon.com/Fluke-FoodPro-Thermometer-Display-Temperature/dp/B000VRECPQ
  8. Right. Grab the nut with a pair of vise-grips or pliers, and turn while pulling outward.
  9. Saw this on a local Austin Reddit page... https://www.texasmonthly.com/bbq/fire-look-inside-franklin-barbecue/
  10. Only $3 each. http://www.foodsaver.com/accessories-and-parts/replacement-parts/foodsaver-replacement-parts-for-v3200-series/v3200series-parts.html#start=17
  11. I have a favorite Foodsaver, the V2865 and yes, the new seals made it vacuum out and hold a vacuum 10 times better. And the new seals are quite cheap. I usually find my Foodsavers off Craigslist and the like, but the last spare I bought was from a pawn shop.
  12. $76 Smoke offer is gone now. Got mine, looks new!
  13. Thanks! I ordered one. Been waiting for some sort of discount.
  14. When I bought my 2 KJ's from Costco, I was there and the sales guy was telling me that an older couple had brought back their black Classic to Costco because it was damaged, like yours. It was destroyed. The wife sheepishly admitted after they got a new Classic from Costco that her husband tried to unload it by himself, and dropped it. But that was not the story he told Costco...
  15. I already peeled my stickers off, but now it's time to get out the Goo Gone to remove the glue that was left behind. The side table stickers came off with no problem. Now if the cover would drop it's price....
  16. Congrats! I did receive mine, assembled it, but have yet to cook on it. Nothing came broken or bent, it is packed pretty well.
  17. Price is back up to $287 at Walmart, showing not available from Amazon any longer. The past few days they had two in the Warehouse Deals, one was Used, and one Like New. Both are gone apparently too. Mine still is being shown as "Shipping Soon". Will let y'all know if I get it or not. They have charged my credit card however....
  18. Gone down to $222, so I went ahead and bit the bullet. I will get rid of my GE gasser now, I haven't used it in well over a year now, since I got my two KJ's.
  19. By SS, I assume you mean Simply Steel. According to their site, there is no Stainless Steel version. Yet.
  20. Yeah... On my Jr, the gasket is nearly all gone now. Scorched it twice. But it still does the job. No smoke leakage that I have seen. Will replace it someday. But I only grill on the Jr, the low and slows occur on the big guy.
  21. Saw this on my cell phone earlier today.... http://dining.blog.austin360.com/2017/05/16/aaron-franklin-to-create-and-sell-franklin-barbecue-pits-for-at-home-cooks/ Not that I am buying one, I had my fun with a smoker, but I only use my KJ's now.
  22. I get a little brutal with my top on my Big Joe. I take off the cap and give it a couple of good whacks with my old cast iron fire grate from my Jr. (don't use it anymore with the Kick Ash basket) Sure it has a couple of good nicks in the paint, but I don't care about that. I use the Joe's to cook, not to look pretty and gleaming on the back porch.
  23. I have grill grates for all of my grills, and I just used the ones on my Jr last night for a couple of smaller steaks. I am less than happy with the grates on my Jr. You lose a good bit of surface area due to the small size of the grate. Once had a hot dog roll off the side and onto the ground, since they set so high up. And they are a pain to clean while on the grill, since they slide around so much. They do leave a good grill mark on the meat, and I will still use them on rare occasions. I got mine when they have the scratch and dent sale, so I didn't pay much for them.
  24. Since it is a Big Joe II, I would think that the gaskets are fine. From what videos I have seen they squish down, unlike the older models. Are you latching it down after cooking as well?
  25. Silicon Sam

    Serial # ?

Yes, I registered both of them together. I got 2 cookers, and 2 manuals. Since the manuals are generic, and are not for a specific model, no way to tell which is which. I use the Big guy for stuff like briskets, 4-5 rib racks at a time, bunch of turkey legs and such. But the lady and I tend to use the Jr far more often, since it is just the both of us. The gasket is long ago toasted, and really needs to be replaced. Gasket doesn't like being subjected to 1000+ temps at all. Gotta get me a Thermoworks Smoke someday, so I can better watch it.
