  1. Just depends on what you like better, or what you're more comfortable with. I bought mine from Lowes put together because the guy putting them together knew what he was doing. Maybe you can get the one from Kroger put together. If not, do you feel comfortable putting one together? If not maybe you know someone who can help you. The one at Kroger and the one at Lowes are basically the same grill minus a few cosmetic changes. Like no name on the middle of the oval grate part on the kroger one. One from Lowes say chargriller on the middle grate part. The shelves as you mentioned. Also, the texture seems different on the outside shell. Good luck with whatever you choose.
  2. The bayou's green and heavy as crap. It has wheels on it though. Akorn is black. I was laughing at people trying to raise the lid on the bayou the other day. It does take some strength to open it up. Unlike the CG Kamado.
  3. I bought a Sony hdr-xr160 video camera a week or so ago at a local hh greg for $249. It does great HD vids and has 5.1 surround sound. I also have the Canon camera you have, but haven't taken many videos with it.
  4. I looked at several CG Kamado's at my local Lowe's, before I found one that didn't have scratches, or dents. I kinda like haven't it put together already, if someone knows what they're doing. That way I don't have to worry about missing parts etc. I've had this happen several times before. It was a pain going back to the store, or calling customer service and waiting for parts. Bought a new HD Sony camcorder recently and the power cord/charger was missing out of the "new" box? Sony said they would ship me one, but it would take 7-10 business days. I said ok, and then bought one from amazon with 2nd day shipping for free. It's always something it seems.
  5. My Lowe's puts almost every CG kamado together unless you tell them otherwise. They had 4 put together the night I bought mind. I had to look at three of them before I found the one I bought. Two had scratches, and one had 3 inches of water in ash pan! Not sure why, or how the water ended up in it. Lol
  6. I've been using royal oak from walmart. It's highly recomended according to a website that test every lump, and charcoal B made.
  7. If you don't want to go by the 5 second rule, you can always open both vents wide open before opening the lid.
  8. Looks good. I'm tempted to cook some burgers tonight on the Kamado, but looks like I'm going to get some storms soon. Maybe I'll have to hold off on it tonight.
  9. I would use more lump charcoal, and leave the bottom and top vents wide open until desired temp. I've seared my steaks on the CG Kamado from 650-700 degrees. It only took like 3 mins to cook the steaks. Hope this helps.
  10. Fwiw. The guy at Lowes who puts all of the grills together said he cleans the outside of them with WD-40. All the Kamados in the back had a coating of WD-40 on the exterior.
  11. Thanks for the video. Now you're going to have to do a cooking one.
  12. I haven cooked on my WSM since last summer (June) either. Maybe I'll break it out one of these days when I'm not using the Kamado or the kettle. Lol
  13. I saw one with the wood looking shelves at my local Kroger. It looked like it had a different texture on the outside shell than what mine did (from Lowe's). Anyone else see this?
  14. Bought 7 tickets and didn't win.
  15. Nothing because I'm going to win it. How many tickets did you buy? I guess you could always buy you a few more grills. lol On the border of Cali & Nevada people have been standing in line 6hrs just to buy tickets. Mega-million officials said today between 1pm & 2 pm people were spending 28k a min on tickets. If no one wins tonight, the next jackpot will likely be between 975 million & 1 billion.
