Looks like Char Griller is going to go head to head with Weber. This is a Charcoal Premium Kettle smoker/ grill. First one I have seen.

I got an 8 lb. and a 4 lb. boston butt ready to go on the smoker yesterday and put them in the fridge overnight. Got up early this morning and lit up the Akorn and ran it up to 325 degrees and threw the meat on with some hickory I had cut for smoking. Started them at 6:45 AM and the small one came off at 205 IT at 10:00 AM ready for lunch. The 8 lb. came off at 12:15 PM also at 205 IT. Let both (less lunch) sit for a while and then pulled them, bagged them and cleaned up. Looked at the clock and all was done by 3 PM and I have 5 1/2 lbs. of PP ready to eat.
Only thing I still have to do is put away the Akorn but I want it at -0- degrees before I do. A really fast cook for pulled pork.

Sorry, forgot to snap any pics.

The everyday low price is $146 that is not a sales price. My Walmart is already stocked up on new grills. Spring is coming....

Hmm. Looks like they did mean to put the legs in that configuration. Looks backwards to me.

I rely on the lower vent mostly, running about 1/4 inch for 225/250 degrees, that's with the upper open just a little less than the lower.
Recently I've been using TipTopTemp set around 2.5/2.75 for the same.

I think if it really got a good soaking I would leave it about 200 degrees for a couple of hours before turning it slowly up. Water boils around 212 degrees and if heated too fast might just shatter the stone.

I was very interested up to the point when I saw the 1 year limited warranty listed. That is a deal killer on a new to market ceramic kamado. I will look at them again in about 5 years or so to see what is being said about longevity. Until then my Akorn and Akorn Jr will just keep on cooking.

Sounds like it is for a shelf on a free standing model.

That is what the new Akorns do. A lot of folks read the Akorn Mods thread and fix stuff that simply does not need fixing. Enjoy you new Akorn.

Those instructions are for Kettle style cookers, not Kamados.
Fill up your fire box with lump and light it. After 5 to 10 minutes close the top and set the TTT on where you think you will want your temp. I use a 2.3 for 225 230 degrees. Leave bottom vent about half way open. When you get within 50 degrees of your target temp close the bottom vent to around a 1 or maybe smaller. Once temp settles you can increase the TTT setting if you need more heat.

No lines in Cedartown either and same price except I only got the standard 3 cents off per gallon.
But $2.19 is a lot higher than it was a few days ago.

I do mine at 350 direct. I apply a light coating of baking powder to my wings several hours before cooking then put my rub on also and place them in the fridge till ready to cook. I usually go from 45 minutes to an hour but be careful cause they are easy to over cook using direct heat. They come out crispy this way. I sauce in last few minutes if using sauce.

I would have snagged it up anyways. Took it home, registered it and assembled it. If anything was wrong Chargriller would have made it right. They have great customer support.
