  1. I hate to hear that tapatalk has been disabled. I definitely prefer tapa over the mobile sites. Tapa streamlines the post and doesnt have as many advertisements.
  2. I went through the exact same thing that you are. I'm not sure why KJ has such a hard time matching the tops to the bases when they replace them. It shouldn't be that hard to measure the ID and OD of the replacement part to make sure that its going to work. They will probably end up sending you a replacement grill that is already assembled. If they do, you may want to let them know the OD measurements of your top vent hole so that they can try to match it. They don't send a replacement daisy wheel and it's possible for it to be too loose or too tight.
  3. I toss it in my yard. It doesn't seem to hurt anything.
  4. You are probably going to end up with a 1/4" under bite.
  5. I had a similar problem with a classic. KJ sent me a replacement base that had thinner wall thickness than my original unit. My bands, lid, and nest wouldn't match up. KJ ended up sending me a fully assembled used unit. I had to change the thermometer out and double the gasket material to get the daisy wheel to work but all is well now. The process took around 3 months and was very frustrating.
  6. I wonder if a band on the top would have helped.
  7. If you have a mini grinder you can get masonry cut off wheels that will probably work better than a cut off saw. I think a 1" air space would be enough if you went with a stainless insert.
  8. I was thinking about doing the fire pit thing with a extra base I have too. I'm not so sure about it now. I may try to use a old fire bowl and maybe 2 rings to prevent the cracking
  9. I have the same problem with 2 regular Joe bases. I was thinking flower pot or fire pit.
  10. Baked potato bars are easy and filling for get togethers.
  11. I use the bowl method when I have a lot to peel. If it's only a few cloves I use my palm to squish them and release the hull. Have you guys tried the pre-peeled cloves? I wonder if they taste like fresh garlic? I'm not crazy about the jarred minced garlic that's available locally. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  12. Looks good! The mushrooms are always my favorite. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  13. I'll try to get a shot of mine later. Most of them are global and I keep a couple of victorinox for carving and cutting up large roast or pork shoulder. The global g-2's are the only ones that I use regularly. Sent from my Moto G (5) Plus using Tapatalk
  14. I've been using my kamado joe with a cracked firebox and cracked base since October with no issues. Sent from my SM-N910V using Tapatalk
