I have been using the KJ half moon soapstone for about a year now. This is a great alternative to using cast iron. The consistent surface temperature equals a fabulous searing. Cleanup is a snap. I have put mine in the dishwasher occasionally.

KJ Big Block Lump Charcoal Review
CARuggs replied to DerHusker's topic in Accessories & Product Reviews
I have found that the Big Block burns longer than other lump I have tried. Very dense. -

First Cook on Kamado Joe Classic II
CARuggs replied to BCJustin's topic in Kamado Cooking and Discussion
Welcome to the forum and congrats on your new purchase. You will quickly gain an understanding of how to use the vents to adjust and maintain your temps. I for the most part do not reuse my charcoal. When I do though, I always make certain to use more fresh topped with the remnants. Don't give up on the smash burgers! Get the griddle hot hot, drop and smash, 2 minutes, flip and cook for about another 3 to 4 minutes works for me. Cheers! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
Hello and welcome to the forum from Baltimore Maryland. As far as must have items, the D&C is a must with the half s/s grates or at least the half cast iron griddle grate. I use this for reverse searing large steaks. Enjoy! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have 2 of these, one on for my Classic and one for my Jr. They are cheap, they have a universal fit design that works well for my Joes, and they are bright. https://www.amazon.com/Grillmark-Led-Grill-Light-Universal/dp/B001UFLK0I Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I have had my KJ Jr for a while now and I have never had any problem with getting mine started. I have used all sizes of lump mostly KJ. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Isn't there going be a new model of the classic and the big joe with the counter balanced hinge and redesigned vent top soon? If that happens, I would look for dealers to be unloading their inventory to make room for the new items. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
