  1. Stemo, I went to the hearth shop in Moore, OK. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0ahUKEwjY54qV5LvKAhVll4MKHeXzCcEQFggeMAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.hearthshopokc.com%2F&usg=AFQjCNGv8lAJfiKl5Y8P8gKeof9HrPKLCg&sig2=lYnhTWcvJaz6d5AVYsix-g
  2. Kamado sensei's suggestions of a ceramic pot base for a heat deflectot worked wonders. Smoked 2 slabs of spare ribs today, the grill held steady temp @ 250 degrees the whole cook. Thanks again Kamado Sensei.
  3. I recently restored the firebox of an old imperial kamado. I used JB weld, then coated the entire thing with Rutland furnace cement. I had one area that was missing a piece about 3x6 inches. I just covered the hole with bailing wire. I have been using the cooker for about 3 months regularly without any breakdown. All of my cooks have been at low temps (250-350)
  4. Thanks Kamado Sensei for the advice on the elevated rack. Would you happen to have a picture of something like this? I am a visual person. Would using the base of a clay pot for a heat deflector be durable enough directly over a fire?
  5. Nice find. I just finished restoring one that I got from my Grandfather. Looks to be the same model as yours. Mine had multiple cracks in the pot, firebox, and fire ring. JB weld and Rutland furnace cement did a nice job on it. I had a diificult time finding high temp paint in any color but black. Finally found a green color at a local hearth shop. Best of luck on the project!
  6. Just built a 58 in by 30 in table. Cost about $100 at Home Depot. Plans I found online http://www.stoverpt.com/1/post/2015/08/rehabilitation-of-adductor-related-groin-pain-in-athletes.html
  7. Just finshed restoring a number 5 japanese Kamado from 1950's or 60's. I am just learning to use the cooker and would appreciate any advice on accessories or further modifications that will improve this project further. I am interested in adding a heat deflector plate and elevated rack with pizza stone, any tips to do this cheap?
