  1. Anyone seen these yet? Just noticed on the Costco website today, wondering if the in store models are blue as well? That may derail my plan of buying a Pit Boss this year, because it won't match the deck. I think looks much the same as last year's otherwise, except for the side shelves. My Costco doesn't have much lawn and garden yet.
  2. I have no idea how I'm just discovering this site, this is awesome! I'm in the market for a new Kamado. I've narrowed it down to the Big Joe and a Summit Charcoal. I'm leaning heavy towards the Big Joe, but am curious to know how deep the discount is at Costco..... The roadshow schedule isn't coming to B'ham in the near future, but I'm willing to drive over to ATL. Question: For those what are near a costco, what are the current prices for the grills? Also, I read on kamadojoe.com that the warranty is not honored when purchased from a store like Costco. I realize Costco might pick up the warranty, but wanted to verify other's experience. I appreciate the advice and look forward to the future discussions.
  3. Proud to be a new Joe owner. Got it from the Naperville store. Yeah, yeah shoulda got mine long before Labor Day but Ill be cooking long after the snow flies unlike the fair weather Chicago BBq people.
  4. Hi Everyone, I just want to say hello, I am new to the Kamado world and just picked up my first ever Kamado today. I got a Kamado Joe Classic II, and I am super excited to use it! I was able to pick it up at a Costco Roadshow, which I've read tons about and knew that they offered the best deals on the KJ. I've attached a photo of the current roadshow prices if anyone is interested. This was the Costco Roadshow in Glen Mills, PA (about 40 minutes outside of Philly). It is running there until 07/22. Again I just wanted to say hello and that I am super excited to get into Kamado cooking and being on the forums for new cooking ideas! Matt
  5. Picked up a 6.75lb flat at Costco. Seasoned with salt pepper garlic onion powder, used mustard to help the rub adhere. Fired up at 7 this morning, settled in at 250 with some cherry on there, brisket went on at 830. Stalled HARD at 165 from 11-6, then zoomed to 195-200 by 7. Found a couple spare ribs at the store and tossed them on at the same time, they finished around 330. Ribs came out great. Brisket came out pretty darn good. Rub was a bit too salty, I’ll have to scale that back. Some areas around the outside were a bit crumbly, and it could have been juicer, but I’ve paid for worse brisket at “bbq” restaurants. Needless to say, bark formation was on point (on flat?). Dont remember where I saw it here, but I wrapped a sweet onion with foil, and put a couple pats of butter on it, left it in the grill for the last 6 hours, 10/10 would recommend, will do this every time I fire up from now on.
  6. Howdy. My better half approved the purchase so I hit the roadshow here in Indianapolis today. 1,499.99 for the Big Joe 219.99 for the Big Joetisserie 21.99 for 30lbs of lump Details: They had 5 Big Joetisserie. By the time I left at 5pm, there was 1 left. Rep said they only got in 5. Looks like they only had 2 or so of the classic Joetisserie as well. I had to work at 9 so didn't get to take part in the great race for "The Deal", but at least two were waiting to try to get the deal at 9 when the club opened. Rep helped me load it up. And by help, I mean he did most of the work. Rep was great and everything survived well. That's a scion XB that it loaded in. Those black boxes have a ton of space, and there was extra room. I should have gotten more lump and probably will go back for more since it is 10 more pounds for 5 bucks less than what Lowes carries. Used a garden cart and two neighbors to get it to the back deck and into the cart. That was way easier than we expected. And now I owe my neighbors BBQ for helping. Oh darn.
  7. I have been researching Kamado's for awhile, and have been sold on Kamado Joe. Earlier in the week I almost pulled the trigger and purchase a classic II from Amazon with the free delivery and setup. However, I then realized there is a Costco Roadshow going on in Montgomery, AL this week until the 18th. I live in Birmingham which is about an hour and fifteen away. So it looks like the Big Joe sells for about 300 less than usual at these roadshows. I also have $650 worth of Amazon Visa Reward points built up, which I can just cash out on. So it looks like I could potentially 'save' about $950 if I bite the bullet and do this now. OK, 950 minus 60 because i'm not a Costco member and would sign up. My questions: 1. I see all these pictures of people loading the floor models into the back of their vehicles. I'm assuming grills that aren't the floor models are still in the box (or crate, whatever it is). Any ideas on the dimensions of that? I have a Lincoln MKC mini-SUV, and the back can get alittle tight. 2. Before I hike it all the way to Montgomery, can I just call the Costco and make sure they have it in stock? Needless to say it would be a bit of a letdown to go all the way down there just to be told it wasn't there and I would need to pick it up in a few days. 3. Anyone that wants to talk me off the edge and instead to purchase a Classic 2? Thanks in advance for any info! Dave
  8. The new schedule is up: https://www.costco.com/kamado-joe-schedule.html Lots of stores in the Southeast are in play.
  9. Check out this deal! Just purchased the Big Joe Demo unit from Costco here in San Antonio... $1499 and they gave me the Little Joe demo unit free! Can't wait!
  10. So three things that are unsettling about the great Costco Big Joe Demo Deal I picked up today. One, I can't tell you until Monday. The other, well first the ride home was so nerve racking. You notice every single bump and the highways were in poor condition, with people driving like maniacs- despite it being Good Friday. Longest drive of my life – trying to get this home in one piece. Next, the BJ Demo has a broken or missing latch in the front so, I can't cook on it until I get the replacement. That's my latchless BJ on the right. I knew this going in but it makes the third thing really suck. I'm basically waiting to protect the innocent or naive.
  11. I've been running my Pitboss K24 since April 2016, average usage is 2-3 times a week and even with our Canadian winters it runs a minimum once a week. During one of my cooks I heard a pop and it wasn't until the next cook I noticed a crack running from the lower vent up about 8 inches. I contacted Danson's and they responded the next day indicating a new base was being shipped out. I didn't pay much attention to the delivery time although it didn't seem more than a week or so. To my surprise, I was sent and entire Kamado, less the accessories, (i.e side tables, cooking grates, top vent, etc...) Danson's warranty rocks in my opinion and if they continue to provide service like this they should be around for a long time.
  12. Hello all, I am new to this forum and Just purchased a 2017 Model of Pit Boss from Costco still at the $599.00 price from last year. After looking at the BGE and other Kamado grills for some time I decided to pull the plug and purchase this one. Assembly was easy, though the unit weighs a ton. The unit seems to be very well built in my opinion. Grill came packaged very nicely and was well secured in the box. This unit also came with a spider diffuser and cover. Things of change from the previous model in what I understand from researching this is, that the shelves are made of a type of solid sturdy plastic that seem very hefty and durable, unlike wood that needs lots of care if left in the elements, this should need very little care and time will tell if they hold up. The shelves if left to fall accidentally have a stop on them to keep them from hitting the Boss unlike previous models. There is now also a perforated door in the lower vent area along with a solid door. I did pinch in the guide rails on the lower vent to better prevent the unit from getting air when shut down. The first night of grilling on it we made two thin crust pizzas that the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed (probably more fun deciding what to use for ingredients and building it together though I was probably more excited to use the grill for the first time). Pizzas took about 6 minutes to get done and the temp gauge attached to grill lid registered 650, I will use my digital meter the next time to see how accurate this lid mount thermometer is, I understand that most are not good at providing accurate readings. I feel the grill heated up fairly quickly seeing the smaller amount of wood I used and the temp of 20 degrees outside. After shutting down the grill and then looking at it the next day, I had some of my wood left so I know that the fire is getting smothered adequately. I look forward to many more cooks and smokes on it in the very near future. Hope this helped with anybody looking at purchasing a Pit Boss in the future. Best of Luck with your grilling adventures.
  13. Costco has a 6 piece set Of Global knives on sale for $349.99. With all the Knife talk on here recently I figured I'd post this. I don't have these knives, so I know anything about them, but I know they are an upper end knife line. Maybe @keeperovdeflame can weight in with his thoughts on them and their quality. As a comparison Cutleryandmore.com has the same set for $599.99. Link: https://www.costco.com/Global-6pc-Knife-Set-with-Block.product.100311468.html

  18. Anyone in the Ottawa are who is looking at getting a new grill this summer might want to check out the Kanata Costco. I was there this morning and they have a PitBoss 24" Kamado on for $599.97. I think it's the last one, maybe the floor model? The price sign had a little * on it, which I think means it's the last one... Anywho, just last week I'm pretty sure they were on for 699, or 799? Seems like a good deal for someone though! Cheers
  19. Dropped into Costco in Ajax Ontario today and picked up a 24in Pit Boss Ceramic grill. $799 plus tax and it also included a cover. I've been patiently waiting and after viewing the floor model i was really impressed. It appears much thicker than the Louisiana grill sold at Canadian Tire. Going away this weekend so assembly will have to wait. Will keep you posted! Cheers

  23. Grillings Good Folks, My name is David and I am new to Kamado cooking and so I'm looking forward to learning much about this new process from many of you. My experience is novice at best and this new interest is in part due to becoming a sales rep for Kamado Joe this past December for the Costco Roadshows. I'd like to put the word out on my schedule in case some of you may be interested in knowing my whereabouts of my Costco Roadshows. I do apologize if I have chosen the wrong place to post this information for you and respect any decision the moderators make. My intention is to post information on the Kamado Joe Brand, not to spam or become a nuisance to this forum in any way. I look forward to getting to know some of you and learning much more about Kamado style cooking. David Cantu
  24. I was out buying meat at Costco for some grilling this weekend and found this. Didn't see it posted so here it is. This is the brown bag, competition briquets. The original price is $19.99 at my Costco and has a $4.30 instant saving. Limit to 3, i.e. 6 bags total. Hope it'll benefit some.
  25. Eeek....I hope this gets resolved soon. It appears Costco Canada has lost it's ability to import fish due to health violations. This sucks since Costoco is one of the more afordable places with a wide selection of fish products. For now it appears I may have to go elsewhere for my Salmon fix. http://www.cbc.ca/m/news/politics/costco-canada-s-fish-import-licence-suspended-by-food-safety-watchdog-1.2997117
