  1. New to the charcoal scene and just ordered a Kamado Joe Big Joe III, currently being shipped and I can't wait! Btw I've been lurking on this forum for a week, and it seems like a great community, everyone is so knowledgeable and helpful! Question for all you Kamado owners out there, particularly Kamado Joe owners: Is it safe to keep your grill outside year round (covered), like on a deck or patio?   2. Hello, Just recently purchased a 2016 stand alone joe classic. When I was opening the lid yesterday the back started to drop sliding the band over the lip. I'm having difficulty trying to line it back up. What would be the best way to get it back in alignment? Posted a couple pics to help visualize the situation. I did loosen the top band bolt to push it down somewhat but can't get it completely down. Thanks
  3. Alright Gurus, been meaning to ask for some time how everyone maintains and seasons their cast iron skillets. I have a 15" skillet I seasoned with flax oil 5x and am at the point where the seasoning is basically gone and there are some rust spots. I have no clue how this is possible since I oil after every cook but since I need to start from scratch, I figure I'd see what everyone's take is on this. Thanks! Side note - Not sure if this is in the correct section so please feel free to move.

  5. Hi All, I've just returned home from a few months out of the states and I plan to get the Akorn fired up for a pork butt this Thanksgiving. I always clean my Akorn regularly but didn't do anything specific before I parked it in the garage. I plan to do a high temp burn to give it a good cleaning, but does anyone know what I need to look for? Last summer I didn't have to pull it out of storage because I cooked on it all winter long, but this year I haven't touched it in a solid 4-5 months. p.s. good to see the forum looking updated, nice work John!
