  1. Until I get my grill shack built with a roof, I wanted a way to keep rain and snow out of my Louisiana grills 24 inch kamado top vent. Smokeware doesn't and won't make their version to fit. I do have one of the smokeware ones for my large grill dome and love it. I have searched extensively for a solution and found a possible solution. I got a 9 inch galvanized stove pipe cap for reasonable price that only requires the kamado gasket seal for snug fit. This does go over the existing vent top. I have yet to test but does fit nicely. I don't remember the guidelines as to if I can put the link here or not but is on Amazon for about 16 bucks. Cost more for shipping but still for around 35 dollars is a nice solution in my opinion.
  2. Hello...My 2nd Kontrol Tower has had the same issue as the first, the paint bubbling & coming off. Kamado Joe has been just fine to deal with, in terms of sending an email to customer service, getting a reply and then getting a new replacement. In fact, they are sending a new one to me again now. However, I have asked them a couple of times in my emails if they can let me know how the new replacement tower had changed...basically, what the difference is. They are not replying at all to that question, so I'm wondering if the Kontrol Tower has been improved at all, or if I am just getting the same exact part again. Does anyone have any knowledge or insight into this? Just curious... Thanks, JC
  3. Other than the bb ribs top meat part being a little dark and chewy(should I baste?) the first smoke unfoiled @260 for 4 hours was a success. I defiinatly need to fix the Lower vent leak but the top vent was sticking to the point that I had to use a rubber mallet to get it to move at all which made small adjustments tough. Anyone else had this problem?
  4. Hey guys, for those who have the SS top vent may have this problem or not. Or possibly the powder coated as well. It's taking me a long time to kill my fire. Is this something that you just live with? Or after a few cooks does it tighten up a bit?
