BEER-N-BBQ by Larry
This has been my go to pork butt rub recipe for 20 years. It's six simple ingredients that causes everyone that has had my pulled pork to mark their calendar for when their next opportunity is to come over and eat it again. Amount for an 8 lb butt: 1/4 cup black pepper 1/4 cup paprika 1/4 cup turbinado sugar 2 Tbsp coarse salt 2 tsp dry mustard 1 tsp cayenne pepper Here is the entire recipe in video format: Classic Pulled Pork - Made with Larry's (Not So) Secret Rub http://youtu.be/Zd4K613suCc dsarcher, karacooks and pjordan3006@gmail.com
Ross
Sounds good and I might have to try it here soon on a couple boneless shoulders from Costco! BEER-N-BBQ by Larry
S60
How hot does the 1 teaspoon of cayenne pepper make the pulled pork? Is it noticeable? Would kids who do not like spicy foods think that this rub tasted hot? Thanks.
BEER-N-BBQ by Larry
Not noticeable. Everyone loves it even the weaklings. Kids eat it fine too.
S60
Thanks. Why did you decide to not add any garlic or onion to the rub?
BEER-N-BBQ by Larry
It didn't need it. I think too many ingredients creates too many competing flavors. I'm becoming more and more "less is more" when it comes to numbers of ingredients in rubs. I do however use garlic and onion on rib rubs. S60
How many "secret" rub recipes do you have?
BEER-N-BBQ by Larry
Lol. Lots. They are so secret that even I can't remember them half the time and then have to make them up from scratch again from memory. You know memory is the second thing to go when you age. I can't remember the first thing. bleating808 and karacooks
