Canada - New Pit Boss, heat deflector

I just bought a new PB K24 from Costco 2 days ago.  I tought it would be easier to find a suitable heat deflector (... and affordable).  The original one is about 136$can (with shipping).  I was looking at all the other topics related to the heat deflector, and it seems that the original one is not really appreciated.  The problem is, most of the replacement solutions are from items are from the US or UK, but I can't find these items in Canada.  I was looking for for the Vision XL spider (or any other spider), or even for the Saffire multi levels, but there's none on amazon.ca, homedepot.ca, ... I can't find any other solution.   The Ceramic Grill Store, that most people are talking about, says on his website that they can deliver to Canada (+ some fees), but when I try to order, the only country available is US.

I would like to have some help, or some other ideas available in Canada, instead of ordering the expensive original Pit Boss Heat Deflector!!!

It seems a good and cheap solution, but when you put the grill on it, is it still stable?  Also, is there any other hanger (spider, ...) available in Canada so I would be able to use half deflector?

In this photo, the main grill is stable because it sits on the rim of the paella pan (the handles of the pan are slightly below the rim).  I don't know if that is the case with all paella pans.

I don't have a good answer for a half deflector below the main grill, but you could always put a half ceramic deflector on the main grill in the back and indirect cook on the upper grill above it:

Call or email CGS. They recently updated their website and it is still buggy. I am sure there is no reason they wouldn't ship to Canada. Also, they said they are going to make a spider specifically for the Pit Boss which should be announced in another week or two. The vision XL version I ordered needs to be cut to fit, so unless you are in a hurry, I would suggest waiting for the CGS spider.

Thanks.  I already contacted them by email (two days ago)... still no answer.  I know (by reading other posts) that CGS might create a spider specifically for the PB, if that's the case, I will wait till it's out.

I've had the same problem in the UK.

As a temporary option, I am using a smaller heat defelctor on the bottom grate of the Pit Boss. I've also got a paella pan on order, whilst I'm waiting for a bracket it be fabricated to hold some kiln shelves to act as a deflector.

The paella pan does the job very well. I put a quarry tile in the bottom and a drip tray on top. Not much money spent RESULT !

I just bought Kiln shelves for £22 or  $40 canadian

then I made a steel triangle with about inch uplift to fit on the cutouts of firebox and it works perfect I bought 16.5 inch half round kiln shelves and they fit perfect

Do you have a picture? I would appreciate (I'm visual).  Tks

      Hi,

What are the most popular size of Kamado? Is there any data on whether 18" / 24" / Other are best sellers?

      Thanks

Hey all. Living in Scotland and well getting the ole Kamado (Early model Pit Boss K24) going and was looking for a cheap divide and conquer setup. Getting compatible bits for a non-KJ grill is a bit tricky in the UK and the price is bat sh!t crazy but I came across the brand Onlyfire but not the one listed for a Kamado as it seems they carry a premium price due to Kamado branding.
Looking at many of the kettle grill versions there was only a 1/2" difference in size I can't believe that a factory would run off different models in 1/2 sizes not exactly a pair of shoes. Anyway, the "Onlyfire BBQ Cooking Grate System Fits for 22.5" Weber Kettle Grill and Other Similar Size Kettle Grills" fit perfectly in my K24 and cost £89.
Hope this helps some UK Kamado users.
Currently modding a stainless steel bowl as a cheap ash collector, but can't get my head around a £60 basket for charcoal....couldn't I use a cheap deep fryer chip basket??
Now next purchase Rotisserie that fits, anyone with a suggestion as I can't justify £200+

      All,

I am new to the site and messed up the location of my post by initially putting it in the introductions section. Below is the link to that post.

I am looking for ideas on small cracks forming in the firebox of my New Old Kinuura Yaki #5 Kamado.

      Photo of kamado for fun

I have an opportunity to buy a Monolith classic (by size, pretty sure it isn't Le Chef) and looking for opinions on both the grill itself and whether it's a good price. About 1 year old, in good condition, with stones/grates, a CyberQ Cloud controller, and a table built by the owner. Unsure how well the control fan works (I couldn't get it to start with the CyberQ just fiddling around without lighting coals, and the owner said they never really figured it out). I've worked the seller down from $1575 to $1100 for everything, no tax, I pick it up myself.

      1. What do you think about this brand and model? An established German company but only in the US market a few years without much penetration yet. Made in China, maybe at the KJ factory?
      2. Is this a fair price, or should I try to work lower? I had planned to go with either the Ceramic Akorn or Grilla Kong at lower prices (without table), but is this worth spending a little extra?

        Thanks.
