Naan Bread

Recommended Posts

This is a recipe I got on Pinterest.  I baked them on a stone in the oven for 2 1/2 minutes instead of 3.  Worked better for the pizzas.

From Real Life Dinner

1 1/2 cups warm milk (105 degrees or so)

1/2 tsp yeast

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp salt

3 1/2 - 4 cups flour

sprinkle yeast and sugar in the milk. Mix.   Let it bloom a few minutes.  Add to mixer if you have a stand mixer.  Add flour and salt.  I used about 3 3/4 cups.  Mix until it is not sticking to the sides of the bowl.  Put in oiled boil, cover and let rise for 2 hours.  Cut into 12 equal balls.  Put on a pan, cover and let sit for 30 minutes.

while the dough is resting, put your stone in the oven and heat to 500 degrees.

Roll dough in the shape you like. I made mine oval.  You will need to flour your board lightly when rolling.   You want them thin.  I baked two at a time for 2 1/2 minutes.  If you are going to use them for bread, go the full 3 minutes.  For pizza 2 1/2 was perfect.  They will puff way up in the oven.  I stacked them and they collapsed.  They made the best pizza dough.

good luck.
