Just bought a 6719 Akorn today off of c-list for $50 since I've got tired of my pellet pooper having 100+ degree temp swings during my long but cooks...

Ran it today for a couple of hours and did a large chicken breast it was great! Only problem was the top cooking grate and center access grate are both broken. Does anyone here have experience with a good stainless replacement?

Don't know if this is the idea you had in mind but Michael's Custom Grill Works sells custom made grates.  Here's an e-mail reply he sent me a while back when I was thinking about it:

Yes, the 19.75in grate is one of our most popular.. the standard version starts at $100+ shipping.. that's made with all 1/4in solid round 304L stainless bar stock with 1/2in spacing on the top cooking surface.. add 1/4in spacing for $25.. add an all 3/8in frame for $25.. an all 3/8in grate with 1/2in spacing runs $165 , and with 1/4in spacing runs $190+ shipping.. add an access door for $25, and a locating hole for the upper warming grate runs $15.
We take credit card and PayPal as payment and there is a 10 to 12 day turn around.

I'll have to start shopping the Webber section at Home Depot. I can't spend $100 for a grill grate on a $50 grill.
It's bad enough that the $50 Akron out performs the $700 Treager sitting next to it...

I was never able to find a suitable stainless option for the Akorn, they were all either too big or too small based on other grills.  Would have been nice if Char Griller went with BGE/KJ standard size of 18" then you could use a lot of the accessories too.

Michael's Custom is more than suitable. Great product and and service. Is it pricey? Sure, but you will never have to replace the grill again. Heck, mine will likely outlive multiple Akorns.

One of Michael's hand made stainless grill grates will probably out live both your succession of Akorns and you as well. Your grandkids will be cooking on it. Michael makes some beautiful, sturdy stuff. I have the 3/4 rod with 1/4 inch spaces and a folding door. In case of a hurricane, atomic attack, or some other extreme situation, I am just going to grab my wife and we are both going to hang on to Michael's grill grate as an anchor.

Nice! That 3/4 by 1/4 has got to be a beast.

I don't disagree at all, poor word choice on my part.  I simply meant that I would like to find a cheaper alternative for my cheaper grill.  I then bought a Big Joe.
