Bootleg Joetisserie

Afingerhut - you have me inspired!   i've just started to try and make a DIY rotisserie setup for my Akorn.

Akorn should be easy. Just drill holes in it and plug the hole when not in use.

I believe that's how blaze kamado set theirs up.

If you do it that way you probably want to push spacers in there to keep the sheet metal from wobbling out.  It should work though.

There is a universal kit like mine that Lowes and Walmart carry that would probably work well. It comes with a spit support designed to rest on the grate, but I bet you could attach it inside the Akorn and then you'd only need one hole through the body for the spit to go through and mount the motor bracket to the outer shell.

Thanks for the additional input and ideas.   Not sure I want to cut into the Akorn itself, not yet anyway.  I've started with bending/shaping some aluminum like you have.   I hope to work on it a little more today, time permitting.

Great work. I built my Big Joe into a table and have pondered on getting the Joe-Tisserie but need to make sure the drive motor will fit with the minimal clearance I have from my table to the top of the Joe's base. Now I may go McGiver and do this...
