I think what @Aussie Joe is trying to say "make sure you're sitting down when doing the calculations!" - LOL

What's that saying in life - "If you have to explain they won't understand."

Somethings in life are just worth the extra coin.

@Polar Bear I wasn't directing this post at you personally. You did ask a legitimate question.

No Offence taken

I looked into importing an Aristocrat Humidor into Australia a few years ago and found the same thing

But the time you took exchange rate, shipping, importation, taxes and transport into account, the cost almost doubled and I ran the risk of the humidor being damaged multiple times as it went through the hands of 3 different shipping companies (Internal US, International, Internal Aus)

I've looked at the KK website and their Kamados looks the goods. If I were in the US, I'd probably give them some serious thought but crap aussie dollar combined with the additional costs and risk associated with getting it here (not to mention a lack of local point of sales for warranty issues) makes it a hard path to walk down

Just my 2c, I have no doubt the KKs are worth every penny, its just when youre talking about getting one here, you need a LOT more pennies than the US based guys

There are no warranty issues really, these things are that well built. As far as the rest, that's your call, but I simply can't recommend these grills enough.

@Polar Bear I understand the added costs issue but...... There is nothing to worry about the shipping issue. KK's are crated really well. Just check out some of the unboxing threads. Dennis will replace the entire grill under warranty (including shipping) if something went wrong with the shipping. I know this personally as I was involved with KK that was messed up on delivery  to another customer. No questions asked he just sent that customer  another KK and had the defected one sent to me for repair.

Warranty issues are extremely few and far between and Dennis just sends the new part free of any charges.

I guess what I'm saying is - if you can get over the added costs there are no other issues.

You really need to go see @Aussie Joe's KK.
