Cracked Kamado (Outer Shell)

I've been running my Pitboss K24 since April 2016, average usage is 2-3 times a week and even with our Canadian winters it runs a minimum once a week.

During one of my cooks I heard a pop and it wasn't until the next cook I noticed a crack running from the lower vent up about 8 inches.


I contacted Danson's and they responded the next day indicating a new base was being shipped out. 

I didn't pay much attention to the delivery time although it didn't seem more than a week or so.

To my surprise,  I was sent and entire Kamado, less the accessories, (i.e  side tables, cooking grates, top vent,  etc...) 


Danson's warranty rocks in my opinion and if they continue to provide service like this they should be around for a long time.

This is really great to hear and makes me feel good about my purchase.  It's always good to find a company that understands the importance of taking care of their customers.

I had the same thing happen.  They have to replace the whole unit as the 2016 model base is slightly different than the 2017.  Not sure exactly what, but you cannot attach a 2016 lid to a 2017 base.

      So three things that are unsettling about the great Costco Big Joe Demo Deal I picked up today. One, I can't tell you until Monday. The other, well first the ride home was so nerve racking. You notice every single bump and the highways were in poor condition, with people driving like maniacs- despite it being Good Friday.  Longest drive of my life – trying to get this home in one piece.
      Next, the BJ Demo has a broken or missing latch in the front so, I can't cook on it until I get the replacement. 

      That's my latchless BJ on the right. I knew this going in but it makes the third thing really suck. I'm basically waiting to protect the innocent or naive.

      Hello all, I am new to this forum and Just purchased a 2017 Model of Pit Boss from Costco still at the $599.00 price from last year. After looking at the BGE and other Kamado grills for some time I decided to pull the plug and purchase this one. Assembly was easy, though the unit weighs a ton. The unit seems to be very well built in my opinion. Grill came packaged very nicely and was well secured in the box. This unit also came with a spider diffuser and cover. Things of change from the previous model in what I understand from researching this is, that the shelves are made of a type of solid sturdy plastic that seem very hefty and durable, unlike wood that needs lots of care if left in the elements, this should need very little care and time will tell if they hold up. The shelves if left to fall accidentally have a stop on them to keep them from hitting the Boss unlike previous models.  There is now also a perforated door in the lower vent area along with a solid door. I did pinch in the guide rails on the lower vent to better prevent the unit from getting air when shut down. The first night of grilling on it we made two thin crust pizzas that the wife and I thoroughly enjoyed (probably more fun deciding what to use for ingredients and building it together though I was probably more excited to use the grill for the first time). Pizzas took about 6 minutes to get done and the temp gauge attached to grill lid registered 650, I will use my digital meter the next time to see how accurate this lid mount thermometer is, I understand that most are not good at providing accurate readings. I feel the grill heated up fairly quickly seeing the smaller amount of wood I used and the temp of 20 degrees outside. After shutting down the grill and then looking at it the next day, I had some of my wood left so I know that the fire is getting smothered adequately. I look forward to many more cooks and smokes on it in the very near future. Hope this helped with anybody looking at purchasing a Pit Boss in the future. Best of Luck with your grilling adventures.

      Costco has a 6 piece set Of Global knives on sale for $349.99.
      With all the Knife talk on here recently I figured I'd post this. I don't have these knives, so I know anything about them, but I know they are an upper end knife line. Maybe @keeperovdeflame can weight in with his thoughts on them and their quality. 
      As a comparison Cutleryandmore.com has the same set for $599.99.

      Welp, it looks like it's time for a new fire bowl for my Vision Classic B, or to at least make Vision aware of my issue.  I emailed Vision's help account earlier this morning and we'll see what we get back.  
      I’ve owned the grill for a little over a year and I first noticed small, hairline cracks in the fire bowl maybe a couple months ago, which I knew occur normally.  Unfortunately, these small cracks have developed into what you can see in the pictures.  The cracks are all the way through the bowl at this point, and the two cracks are growing directly across from each other in the bowl, so I'm a little concerned with the structural integrity.  
      I’m not familiar with their warranty process, but I've read that they're pretty good.  
      Anybody with any similar experiences?
