upon further research online, I'm wondering what's up with my grill.  by all appearances, it is a Primo grill, but it is not black like every other one I see online.  It is gray.  it has been outside in the south texas weather for a while and has a little rust on the bands.  The wooden handle is really dried out,, but I plan on replacing the handle and touching up the bands. The cooking surface and all the interior surfaces appear almost new, so I think it has been neglected rather than used.  Whatever the case, I fully intend to clean it up, fix it up and heat it up in the near future.  I'll post other pics as it comes along.  Thanks again for all the input and info, as a newbie to all things kamado I need all the help I can get.

I have seen some older models in person and frankly they look a little grey/green and not jet black to me.  If it says "Primo" in raised letters on the lid then what you have here is a very old Primo Round.  My little brother had one, it kinda looked grey/green also.  What I have heard directly from folks in the know.....  "It's black!"  Refurb it and cook on!

Ceramic Chef may want to chime in here--he had, I think, one of the early model Primos which, I think were grey, not jet black.

I just missed the grey color (thanks be ...!).  Mine was one of the first jet black Primos out there.  Great cookers.
