Recommended Posts

I was recently fortunate enough to get my hands on some of the Shogun series knives form Dalstrong.... (http://www.dalstrong.com)

These things are amazing... the packaging was impressive as well... I think I have found "MY" knives now... we'll see how these pan out over the next few weeks using them in my Man Cave kitchen... I have given the two chef's knives a workout already and I am perfectly happy with them...

@cavman and me had a discussion going earlier and we bought some Dalstrong Gladiators.

I am real happy with mine,  (I recollect cavman is too) and those Shoguns you have are super nice.

The packaging was as you say-impressive. Unwrapping,  I saw the packaging and immediately knew buying  these knives (online, no physical try out) was gonna be OK.  I.e. attention to that kind of detail by a seller, only lends to pride in product.

Yes, I bought the Gladiator series 12" slicing knife, it is beautiful and a much higher end product than the price reflects. Top of the line company. I will buy again. I want the carving knife set just for the matching fork. I love mine.

I have four Dalstong Gladiator series steak knives. The quality of these knives are superb. I'd like to get another set of four but without teeth. These knives cut by ripping the meat the other smooth blades slice right through. But all in all an excellent knife at a pretty fair price for the quality.

I just got a 12 inch sliced from their Shogun series for Father’s Day. Already tested it on a brisket and I’m plenty impressed. Haven’t had it long enough to comment on blade retention. Was weighing my options between a Wusthof or a Victorinox slicer. Most of my knives are Shuns and I really like the Japanese blade bevel angles. Dahlstrong makes both European and Japanese style knives in their various series. Their price was in the middle between workhorse knives like Victorinox and  Wusthof. Interesting marketing approach. So far I like it a lot. Anxious to hear John’s  future reviews.

I have been looking at the Dalstong Shogun also.  They are  very highly rated and made of good steel. I believe they are one of the best values for a good looking high quality knife. From what I have seen comparable can run two to three times the price. The question is do I need another knife? LOL But that is just my personal opinion for what it is worth.
