GigAg04
A friend of mine moved and I inherited his Kamado. He thought it was a BGE but it’s not. Anyway - I am coming from a chargriller Akron which has a steel one piece firebox...no fire ring. I’m trying to avoid buying a separate stone. Can an I run it as pictured with my akorn stone between the fire box and the ceramic fire ring? where is a good place to buy accessories for the generics? Will want a new grate. robertyb
I see no reason it will not work unless it is touching the lit coals and I am nor certain if that will hurt it as I have had mine might close on several occasions.
ndg_2000
Your only problem with the above is if it needs a refill of charcoal there's a lot of hot ceramic to move. But if you fill before firing no problem

Yes but fill before firing and you won't be handling a lot of hot ceramic
