Veggies and Steak and KK

Recommended Posts

Wanted to do something quick and easy with little to no dishes tonight. Hot water heater is out, so the KK household has been simplifying life wherever possible this weekend.

Veggies on first.

Then some steaks. These had some great marbling and were rather inexpensive.

Flipped.

And plated on my finest China. Steaks were tender enough to cut with plastic ware. Ended up medium rare to medium instead of rare to medium rare.

Dinner was a huge success with the family.... well, most of the family. And I got my first real cook knocked out on the KK in its new home out back on the deck.

I spent Saturday doing the venting. From before sunrise until almost sunrise again... long day!

Thanks for the kind words everyone!  It's been a long time coming getting the KK out on the deck.  Honestly, I was perfectly happy with Big Joe down on the patio all summer long.... but the reality is here, and those summer days are numbered.  I'm thankful I'll have a full sized option on my deck year round now.

And thankfully the water heater problem should be resolved tomorrow.  There's just something about washing dishes in not scalding hot water that bothers me.... clothes I'm ok with... but dishes.... I actually considered hooking up my sous vide on the divider of my sink and heating up water in it that way..... but then I decided to just try and minimize the dishes as much as possible for a few days instead.

Congrats on getting it out of the garage.  Enjoy.

Thanks, @Panchango!  It's bittersweet.... awesome to have it on the deck, but a bummer to be cooking in the cold.  Just fired it up and considered putting on a jacket....    :(

I completely understand.  Not much pitch to my driveway.  I have been happy keeping the KJ18 in the garage.  It is nice to be able to step out of the weather and also put the grill away once cool.  I wouldn't want to roll the KK out and in.  It is heavy and I would be crushed if it broke.
