The goal here with raising the deflector as well is to not trap an excessive amount of heat down low to reduce the chance of cracking a firebox.

Big Joe setups I’ve used:









This extended rack barely fits on the deflectors...  this really isn’t terribly stable.  



Papa Murphys pizza - no upper stone - pull tray out after a few minutes. 



Akorn Jr setup:






Vision setup:




Mini BGE setup - barely any gap between the small 8” stones due to limited space. 




Heck, I even do pizza on the gasser. 








Hi! I’m not quite understanding the Akorn Jr setup. What is the lower stone sitting on, and what is *that* sitting on??

This thread might explain a bit better. Not exactly how I use my canning rack, but similar. And keeps the CI grate out of there as high heat pizza cooks can strip seasoning - so that’s a bonus to the canning rack as a platform for stones with spacers between.
