gordo2212 15
I've had an electric smoker for years and in research always used low and slow at 225 to be my base for just about everything getting smoked. From doing research on the Akorn about how great it is as retaining heat I decided to try a rib smoke at 275 yesterday. I'll tell you all what, that's going to be my go to temp from now on. I had a great smoke ring and it was tender and juicy. I did 275 for about 2 hours with 2 chunks of hickory, then wrapped in butcher paper for about an hour and then 40 minutes without butcher paper. Came out I think the best ribs I have done. I'm looking forward to trying this temp with a brisket to see what kind of smoke ring I get. Too bad it won't be until the fall since I'm leaving to sail on a boat for a few months.
gordo2212 15
I am using a BBQ Guru to keep my temps FYI.
Chasdev 412
Welcome to the hot and fast club, even if it the low end of the range. I'm doing briskets at 350 and love it.
len440 449
As long as the finish product tastes good the cooking temp doesn't really matter. Good luck and anchors away

That's the ideal temp for ribs in my book, and about the lowest I could consistently run my Akorn. That makes them a great match. Enjoy! Frank
