KJ Grill Extenter Question

Recommended Posts

So probably a stupid question but here goes.  Got a grill extender for my KJ Classic III a while ago and never got around to using it until just now.  Doing ribs with the slo roller in place and AFTER I had the grill going decided to put the extender in.  First question is that it doesn’t seem possible to use the extender with the slo roller and the normal racks in the highest position.  It that correct?  I couldn’t see what I was doing very well due to the smoke.  I then move the normal racks down one position and still the extender didn’t want to sit properly because now the back foot is being interfered with by the Divide and Conquer system.  So for those of you that have the grill extender how do you configure it with the slo roller in order to get more racks of ribs on the KJ?

Thanks in advance.

You are correct.  If you want to use the grill extender you need to take the SLoROLLER out.

Thanks John.  I should have experimented with the set up on a cold grill to see what would work.  Lesson learned.

Does anyone have any suggestions on increasing capacity of the KJ iii while using the SloRoller?  CGS has some interesting options but may not work with the Roller (thanks John for video). Unsure if they have any products that may be compatible.

On the cooks where you need expansion of cooking space, just use the heat deflectors where you can have all the cooking space you want.
