Funny.... I floated this one by Mr. KK last night....  He immediately deflected my question when I asked if he would mind if I pulled the trigger on one and redirected the conversation.  I'd been keeping an eye on the progress of these for awhile.... just finally got the nerve up to bring it up.

This not being able to just have stuff shipped to work and sneak it home thing is really a bummer.....

That hit me the right way, and it is a lot less expensive than I thought it would be. Since I am so "hard to shop for" that is a super easy ask for the Christmas list.

EDIT:

I did not last long, I preordered. Since we are not traveling or entertaining any time soon, I might wrap it and give it to myself from a family member at Zoom Christmas (I still get the grill and it will be amusing for some relative).

I adore my Lodge Sportsman's grill, and this seems to be that but probably easier to regulate bottom airflow (plus a lid!), bigger (and even then 2x bigger with the flip), and less care in the field. Sign me up.

@ckreef, I would be interested in knowing your Primo Jr diffuser dimensions for this.

The Oval Jr diffuser is 2 parts with a total dimension of 15 1/4" x 10 3/4". It's Oval and those are at it's widest spots.

Another option would be a quarter sheet cake pan which is rectangular and measures 13" x 9 1/2". With the sheet pan you could line it with foil and also use it as a drip pan. I use one of these in my Oval Jr.

Might be time to weld up some kind of diffuser holder almost at the midpoint and a grate maybe a little higher than the one that comes with it. If I can say anything in advance about this winter, it will be that we will be home and have the time!

Would really like to see one in person so I could touchy/feely and get a better idea of it's benefits/deficiencies. Would also like a dome thermometer in it for baking.  Pretty sure one could be installed.

It says something about a digital thermometer port. You can see something on the back in the pictures but I couldn't find a good closeup of it.
