New Classic III assembly questions/issues

Hey guys.  Just bought a KJ Classic III and am having some problems with assembly?  I have installed the base, firebox (which sucked), and top ring.  When I put the charcoal basket in and try to set the rack on the ring it sits on the charcoal basket and not the ring.  I have rebuilt the firebox and made sure everything lined up correctly but I cant seem to figure out what is going on.  KJ support has been atrocious (they did send me a new charcoal basket even though I assured them that wasn't the problem.  I ordered this through bbqguys and they just told me to contact KJ.  I want this to be a user error but I'm just not seeing any issues with my assembly.  Also how tight is the kontrol tower supposed to be to get on?  the instructions don't mention it at all and I had to use an extreme amount of force (and pounding) in order to get it on.  After talking to bbq guys I'm concerned that it could crack with the excessive pressure that it is under now.  I will need to try and tap it off with a hammer from the inside if it ever needs to come off).  Any help would be greatly appreciated on what to do from here.  Thanks guys

Ok... been looking at this for a while now and I'm having trouble understanding what I see....... In the third photo, it appears to me that the divide and conquer rack is sitting as it should on the fire ring.  Have a look at the video I made here and see if this offers you any help in lining those parts up...…

NEVER EVER EVER tap on the top vent with a hammer.  You WILL break the ceramics.  If that top vent doesn't fit properly the gasket material underneath it needs to be adjusted.

In your video the divide and conquer rack sits flush on top of the fire ring (the ring is holding the weight of that rack).  In my situation the the divide and conquer rack is solely sitting on top of the charcoal basket and not actually touching the fire ring at all (hence the 4 pics of the gap between the ring and the rack).  Ill see if i can grab a picture of where its hitting the ring for you so it makes more sense.  Thank you

I think the problem is that your divide & conquer rack is out of spec.  I have seen that happen before an i'm fairly confident that you need a replacement on that.

That seems to be realistic conclusion, especially if you have seen that before.  Ill reach back out to KJ and see what they say.

Also, is the charcoal basket supposed to sit on the base or does it rest against the wall of the fire box.  In the instructions it says to set the basket on top of the base but mine does not touch the actual base at all.

You are good to go on the charcoal basket.
