86LXJunker 3
So, I picked up a Spiral Ham, because they are everywhere this time of year and they are easy.....then I had a thought.......should I fire up the Joe and heat/smoke it on my Kamado Joe ? Would it make to too smoky, seeing that its already cooked and basically you are just reheating it ? I looked around on this forum and didn't see any posts about cooking one on a Joe, so I figured I would ask, before I tried it. Has anyone Smoked one on their Joe ? and if so, how did it turn out and is it worth the time/effort ?
Jack. 7,813
Check out my post from January 12, 2014-"Another Spiral Sliced Ham." There are several posts on the topic. Search Spiral Sliced Ham. It's been quite a while, but I remember mine was tasty; definitely smoky(you'll see from the photos that I added a few chunks of wood). Probably best to cut way back on, or eliminate, the wood chunks. TKOBBQ
KamadoBucky 50
I followed Malcolm Reed's method for smoking a spiral ham a while ago and I thought it came out pretty good: https://howtobbqright.com/2013/11/17/how-to-smoke-a-honeybaked-ham/ SmoovD and lnarngr
robertyb 439
I smoke 2 or 3 every year and bag and freeze the slices in 1 lb bags for sandwiches later. I do mine with hickory on my Akorn Kamado.
