Kiss my butt!

Recommended Posts

My first butt ever, cooked it today, looks good enough to eat, or kiss! so I got my new KJCI fired up this morning and by about 10 am was stabilized at about 225 degrees and the white smoke was clearing up so I put it on.

About 5 1/2 hours later it was done... About a 6 1/2 pounder

wrapped and in a cooler now, couple hours I'll see how I did.

I was not overly impressed with the B&B charcoal due to the small size so I bought a bag of the RO, not much difference...

But I have some good wood chunks, first bucket is cherry, second is hickory, and the rack of wood is all cherry, all off my place here!

Thanks, and we already do love this grill.

Butt looks great.  Next time try the corn without the husk= naked.  Some black is great.  Sweet and smoky.

I've done both ways with the corn and prefer the husk on, still smoky and steamed to perfection.

Keep the gate unlocked.  Next time I am on my way home from HHI I will stop in for some (hickory and) cherry.  That’s an impressive stock level that you keep!

Well lets see, you are in Ontario and I'm in South Carolina... its going to be a trip!!!

All my wood is now in 8-10 inch pieces for my big smoker (Hoping to retire it) so I have to cut it into smaller "chunks"... maybe you can help when you come.:good:

We spend a week a year in Hilton Head.  Not enough for honourary citizenship, but enough to make me bored of my wife’s shopping trips.  Perhaps a wood cutting day would be a good thing!  LOL

Went and took a pic of a couple bins of pure hickory drying, but same with the cherry, I'm going to have to chunk it!

You drive there or just rent a car? I'm a couple hours north east of there..

19 hours drive down, 19 back.  Usually a stopover around Columbia or a little north at Carowinds area.  I used to hate it because I would have to be at work the next morning after getting home at 8:30 the night before.  Didn’t feel like a holiday after driving that long.

Was really looking forward to last year as I retired early.  We were going to pick up a second week then do a week on the Blue Ridge Parkway coming home.  Ummmm, nope.   Pandemic killed that, then again this April.

Our time will come.
