The motorcycle chicken experiment!

Recommended Posts

So I'm making a twist on the beer can chicken thing. My daughter got me this holder for a beer can and chicken for fathers day so I'm putting it to the test today, but instead of a beer can I've stuck an onion up the chickens rear. I'll let you know how it did in an hour or so. Running at about 400 with the heat deflectors in the slightly raised position.

Tasty looking bird.  I've used various sodas in place of beer in the past. Sprite, Coke, Dr. Pepper, etc., only about 4oz., in the can with a tsp of liquid Shrimp and crab boil.

And? How did they turn out?

I do turkeys all the time with a onion inside, thought I'd try on a chicken..

When I do whole chickens - not spatchcocked - I normally put a lemon and an onion (both cut into quarters) up inside the bird's cavity. They always come out good and the juices make great gravy. This is normally a kitchen oven thing as I almost always spatchcock a bird on the Kamado.

So, exactly where did she buy this?

There are a bunch out there of varying quality, just google "beer can chicken motorcycle stand" or something..
