DSPGuy
I've found that soaking stainless steel grill grates after use over night in a mixture of water and laundry detergent really makes it much easier to clean them the next day, as opposed to just cleaning them without soaking. While it doesn't completely eliminate scrubbing, I'd say it eliminates 70% of it. Does someone know of a better substance to use than laundry detergent? I'm hoping to find something that really loosens baked on grease and grime.
BONEBBQ
Ammonia works wonders. Pour a cup of ammonia into a plastic bag, insert grates , seal bag with twist tie, soak over night. Next morning brush and rinse well. The fumes from ammonia, is what does the cleaning.
JeffieBoy
My wife uses this @#$& on everything. Whenever she runs into baking pans etc with issues out comes “Bar Keepers Friend”. I have never used this on a grill but it does say that it's for Stainless Steel. Might be worth checking it out.

DonBB
I've never needed to clean my grates. After every cook I fire it to 500, then brush them and shut down the Kamado.
SmallBBQr
Same....the odd high-heat burn off, but other than that, I use a bbqpic and a wadded up ball of tinfoil when the grates are still warm... (I have absolutely no affiliation with them....) https://bbqpic.com/

IMAVGAN
You can use lye, but that's some nasty stuff.
