Soaking Grill Grates

Recommended Posts

I've found that soaking stainless steel grill grates after use over night in a mixture of water and laundry detergent really makes it much easier to clean them the next day, as opposed to just cleaning them without soaking.  While it doesn't completely eliminate scrubbing, I'd say it eliminates 70% of it.  Does someone know of a better substance to use than laundry detergent?  I'm hoping to find something that really loosens baked on grease and grime.

My wife uses this @#$& on everything.  Whenever she runs into baking pans etc with issues out comes “Bar Keepers Friend”.  I have never used this on a grill but it does say that it's for Stainless Steel.  Might be worth checking it out.
